From the moment we were greeted with smiling George and tail wagging Ben, the dog, our stay in the converted Convent just got better and better. George's hospitality and welcoming nature, coupled with his humour, cooking and generosity made our stay an unforgettable experience. Terri, Steve, Sue and Tony

We very much enjoyed our stay at Te Anau Lodge last February. George made us very welcome and also made excellent breakfasts! Adam had sorted out our three day itinerary well before we arrived, through a series of very helpful emails. The flight over Doubtful Sound in the 1943 De Havilland Rapide (with Adam as pilot) was one of the...

We were made extremely welcome by George Garden who couldn't do enough for us. In the most natural way he hosted us, making sure we were comfortable and every need and request met - right down to offering us the use of snow chains when we were driving to Milford Sound with snow forecast. The charming lounge upstairs was a...

My folks and I stayed at Te Anau Lodge for three nights and it definitely wasn't enough! George is a fantastic host. He booked some of our travel for us, and also drove us to part of the Kepler track so we could do a one way walk back to our car. He has a wealth of knowledge about the...

The place was beautiful and close to the stunning lake. Every room was themed, adding a lot of character to the already charming home. Our room was cozy and comfortable with a great view of the garden and lake. The heater in the bathroom was most appreciated! The large lounge to relax and socialize with other guests came with complimentary...

This was a gorgeous B & B, It is converted convent with stained glass and whimsical room names. We stayed for 2 nights. My husband and I found the people of NZ very kind and friendly. George, the owner, was no exception. He was incredibly generous and thoughtful . We were on a motorcycle tour and I had caught a...

It is pretty rare that i sit down to write a review but Te Anau Lodge merits. It has to be one of the best places i have stayed in around New Zealand (so far). The house itself is magical, especially inside. Beautiful wood everywhere creates that warm cosy atmosphere matched by the welcome of the manager and his team...

Great hotel and history. George was a wonderful host and the service was impeccable. It's an old convent that was moved to this piece of land by the owner. Broken into 4 pieces and then reassembled on property. Very cool. Ask to see the picture! Great room! I stayed in the Mother Superiors Room. Loved it. Free wifi, great breakfast...

The Lodge is a converted convent and is full of charm and character - actually that description fits George, the owner, too! He met us with a warm welcome and even offered us a different room which had become available since we booked, in case we might prefer it. The rooms are small but there is a large and comfortable...

It's not often you chance upon a great location with great service to match. Te Anau lodge certainly delivers on both fronts. We were after a relaxing quiet start to our break and couldn't of done much better than this place. The room was great and the host, George, (along with the rest of the staff) had a wonderful way...
