The host was super friendly and hospitable and it was a perfect end to our mountain biking adventure staying at this wonderful comfortable lodge and conversing with the guy who made it all happen. Dinner was great and the lodge is situated in such a beautiful part of the country.

Weasel the host of The lodge was awesome and the lodge was a perfect combination of rustic and luxury for chilling out after two days mountain biking the Old Ghost road. Weasel whipped us up an awesome meal of pulled porked and roast veggies and the chili chocolate brownies were just spectacular.

If you're doing 'The Old Ghost a Trail' you have to stay a night here at the end of the trail. Great accommodation, food and tales from Marion 'Weasel' Boatwright. If you aren't doing the ride stay anyway, it's a great place for a relaxing getaway.

Marion "Weasel" Boatwright is an inspiration. His dedication to the Lodge, his guests and the Old Ghost Road is truly commendable and the food is delicious with a small but good selection of wine and beer. We relaxed totally for a day to catch our breath from 4 weeks travelling as a family with our 8 year old son. We...

What a great place to end the Old Ghost Road ride. A tasty hearty meal and glass of wine from the bar after a hard couple of days riding with dehy food. The setting makes you feel like you're still in the bush but the the lodge itself feels like boutique accommodation. Weasel was in good form and still had...

Stayed two nights for the opening of the Old Ghost Road in early December 2015. Awesome hideaway. Very rustic, natural setting in the bush and right beside the Mokihinui River. Very comfortable rooms and great food. Weasel was an exceptional host. Hard to beat going to sleep with the river in the background and waking to the dawn chorus and...

We spent three nights at Rough & Tumble Bush Lodge around Christmas time. If you are planning to be in the Westport area, either for hiking/biking the Old Ghost Road or fishing in Kahurangi, make sure you stay at this excellent lodge. My room (two levels) was excellent (great beds!) and the food and service was also top notch. Weasel's...

The location is a true piece of paradise, the house is built to European standards - e.g. double glazing, insect screens, pressure/ temperature of the showers - all excellent, the hosts are incredibly friendly. Special thanks to Carol for being so thoughtful about kid's eating preferences and preparing extra on demand kids meals for our 6 year old! And last...
