One week we had spend in the hotel villagio it was awesome hotel beautiful place and good service even delicious food it was a great time and beautiful scenery we had lot of fun and we enjoyed alot the staff so kind n sweet dont miss it if anyone will go to taranto its superb hotel and i love it
Really beautiful hotel in a 14th century big farm. The rooms are luxurious and very clean (ours even had a big balcony). The restaurant is delicious and they make their own wine that is very good Surroundings do not offer much of a view, though. Big private parking The hotel itself deserves a 5-star rating in our opinion !
Some of the good things: Exceptionally large and clean room with good toiletries, a multi-shower and disposable slippers etc at a fair price which included breakfast. Our room also had a massive sofa (which could probably become another double bed) and comfy chair as well as a desk, air-con and open Wi-Fi connection. We had a mini-fridge and a safe too. We were just about off-season so not all the rooms were taken and I don't know how the various rooms compare, but we had a private shaded balcony/terrace overlooking the pool which was furnished with comfortable seating. This was accessed directly from our room through double doors and had the benefit of a small clothes-rail and pegs for drying swimwear etc. We had brought pool towels with us but the hotel offered these at no extra charge. On the roof were two hot tubs but we didn't get to use these. All round we had very helpful service. Great vegetarian pasta dishes in the restaurant, friendly and courteous staff. Parking was available directly outside. Breakfast was of the continental type rather than strictly Italian - so although there were cakes and pastries there was also plenty of fruit, meats and cheese, yoghurt and cold hard boiled eggs and so on. There was a good long window in which to take breakfast so this would suit both those who need to get off early and those with plenty of leisure. Two reservations: If you are looking to swim early or late I suggest you check that the pool will be open. Clearly this hotel makes most of its revenue from weddings and other celebrations as the number of celebration rooms is out of all proportion to the number of beds. We discovered that the pool area is often booked for weddings etc and so is closed to those in residence. This would have been incredibly annoying as the pool is always a big draw for me! This is the reason that I haven't awarded five stars. Another reservation is the location. Not the village itself but the area around Taranto which is unbelievably flat. This means that the docks/steel/oil and other polluting industrial sites are almost always visible wherever you go. Taranto was, sadly, not a beautiful place to be - though the hotel is nicely tucked away. I knew Taranto had suffered greatly in the past - but was surprised how very worn out and industrial it still was. Obviously if you want to be near to Taranto this place is ideal. If you are on holiday - and Taranto is not important per se - you might like to look elsewhere.…
The best place where to chill out.] Good food, very good one, good wine, good landscape and weather, polite and very kind staff. Neatness and elegance are what seems one of the most important for Il Villaggio San Giovanni. I have been told that was one of the best in all Apulia and actually it's true, it is excellent in all its aspects.
I stayed in the hotel for 4 nights and I had 4 dinners. I had a real good time there, quality of accomodation and service are impressive. The restaurant is just amazing (environnement and food) ! If you want to a have calm moment, enjoy good italian food, appreciate a non-intrusive and perfect service, do not hesitate to spend a few days there.
