As a visitor to Broken Hill several times before I had not eaten at this Hotel before and was pleasantly surprised on the quality of service and food. The only downside, if you could call it that was the food was a bit pricey for a pub meal. In saying that I had the double roasted duck and if you...

Totally embarrassed, called in approx. 12.30, ordered drinks at 'The Astra Hotel'. Promptly put in our place - you have to order a meal to enable to have drink'! Sorry. So we ordered meals which were very nice and palatable, but regretfully the sour taste in our mouth with attitude did not compliment our day.

11 of us dined at The Astra tonight, food was absolutely beautiful and the service was nothing short of exceptional! The Don Carlo Signature Dish and the Curry were the popular meals on our table! Kids meals came out extremely quick and drinks were kept up to the table!

Generous portions, good quality and beautiful presentation, but it ended there. The service was slow and unfriendly and we felt "nickelled and dimed" with silly charges on top of fairly expensive meals, ie. for a glass of water and to pay using anything other than cash. For it to live up to its reputation as the best restaurant in Broken...

Food was nice but not amazing. Busy night saw the service slow, but the desert selection made up for it. We sat outside in very pleasant surroundings. Overall a good experience, but left with the feeling that it could have been amazing....

Although a little expensive, we have to rate the quality of meals and customer service as excellent. Grilled salmon and veges, plus prawn masala, promply served with excellent follow up service. Followed up with dessert and coffee and this resuarant is highly recommended.

Sorry can't recommend - the meals are small and I am a small eater. Expensive. If Broken Hill is now having to rely on tourism, local venues need to offer more value for money. Nice look and feel but it stops there.

Have been here before and really enjoyed the experience but we decided to go here for lunch and all three meals were below par, with the lamb cutlets undercooked and mostly fat. Should have stayed home for a toasted sandwich - would have been better.

We chose to eat in the restaurant two out of the three night stay. Tuesday night was very crowded and we chose from the specials menu. Trio of seafood, fish, prawns and soft shell crab on a Vietnamese style salad and twice cooked duck. Both very good and large serves. Thursday night we were the only ones in the restaurant...

Typical old pub accommodation with a modern touch. The rooms are huge and have everything you need to enjoy a comfy stay in BH. Centrally located in the main street. Plenty of eating options either at the Astra in along the main street.
