We'd planned on staying 2 nights but one was more than enough! So dreary and depressing. Our ensuite room was a reasonable size, with all the charm of a prison cell, but the bathroom was truly basic. Not even any soap and impossible to regulate...More

Hello Greenings, just to let you know, we replaced the kettle as soon as someone came into the office and let us know about it. We always have spare utilities in storage. I find your comments referring to other customers as "inmates" quite disrespectful.
We booked the double ensuite. Room was very basic. No air. No fan. No soap. Outside our door was the washing machine and dryers, which were on most of the day, obviously causing a lot of noise. Wouldn't recommend the double room, and would pay...More

Yes Brett you are right in saying there are washing machines outside room 8. These washing machines are on a timer so they are not able to work between 8pm and 9am when most people are wanting to sleep. If you were trying to sleep...More
We had booked a double room with en-suite which was large but had a basic fit out. There was a single cupboard, only one chair and no table or bench. The en-suite bathroom was basic but functional. The shower however fluctuated between burning hot and...More

Thank you for your review Michael. We were unaware of the security problem on your window in your room; this is the benefit of TripAdvisor as we will get this fixed. You mentioned the shower water in your room going hot and cold. We had...More

Your booking was a walk in booking during our peak season. With walk in bookings we try to keep people in the same room so they don't have to move but sometimes this is not possible if the rooms are booked for the following day....More

Thank you for your review Minnie, but you may have reviewed the wrong place. We are not a pub and we do not serve meals. If you did stay at Lauceston Backpackers then thank you for staying and safe traveling.

Sounds good to me. The only thing is, I am one of 'the elderly' of whom your guest, above, complained.
I stayed in a back packers in Belgium last year and they told me that I wouldn't be able to return because of my age. It hadn't occurred to me that my rights might be diminished due to my age.
I'm still a vital, curious, interested person, who can offer sparkling repartee and a flash of wit here and there. However, if age is a concern, or undesirable, I'd like to know before I book.
I wouldn't have written thus, but as you ask...........
I think your hostel looks ideal for my purposes.
