My friend and I booked this hostel under the influence of previous reviews which must either be fakes or were written about a completely different hostel. The downstairs bar – a huge selling point – was/ is closed which we were not informed about at all. Our cell mates also paid less than us for the room. The place is... More

The floor was still damp from being dry cleaned. The hot water ran out so I was unable to have a bath. There was no ventilation as the doors were locked. I was never informed that the doors couldn't be opened. The lift, hallway and room all had a damp smell.

Arrived on Wednesday night just before the long weekend. After a long flight & it raining outside, I knocked on the Barkly door & a lovely guy called Sam (manager) opened it. He was in great spirit & so helpful. I spent 6nights there. My private room was so clean, really comfortable. Cleaners came every morning to check. There is... More

Stayed in a suite on the 3rd floor which was dirty on arrival. The kitchen bench top was stained, filthy and uninviting. There was a full balcony with glass doors which covered the front and side of the room but had signs up stating guests weren't allowed out there and had bolted up the 3 sliding doors to enable access.... So close to everything we wanted. Is a party place and yes they make some loud noise until about 2.30am but being parents to 5 adult/teenager kids we are well accustomed to noise! Room was spacious and reno'd bathroom was lovely! Definitely coming back again 😊

A really good place in a beautiful neibourhood, close of a nice beach and marina. Really clean place, love the bathroom in the dorm (look clean and new). Staff is sympatics and the public bar downstair of the hostel is welcoming and drinks are cheaper, good place to meet new people :)

Pretty decent hostel if you want something basic. Rooms are fine- they are cleaned every day, although not very thoroughly, and the deep clean they do once a week didn't happen while I was there so the room did smell pretty bad (even though we had the window open all day every day). The main downfall of the hostel is... More

My partner and I got bed bugs in our room and were only given a voucher for 2 free nights when we were checking out and had already paid- so basically nothing. No money back and there seemed to be a lack of communication between the staff. Horrible experience!
