Lovely location and helpful owners. Cottage well equipped and comfortable. Very quiet. Unpaved track although steep was not a problem. Would have liked to stay longer and swim in the pool. Good starting point to explore the area.

Thanks for your review. Many of our guests tell us how well equipped our Cottage & Chalet kitchens are, so thanks for that comment. If finance allows, this year we hope to develop our system of tracks further which will include the addition of stairs, so DO come again, and you next time you MUST try a swim in the...

We stayed in one of the small chalets just up the track from the main house. It was in a very pretty setting and we enjoyed the peace and privacy there. I also liked having a bedroom which was separate from the living area as I sometimes like to go to bed earlier. The chalet was equipped with everything we...

Our third time in this beautiful paradise! Because of our previous great experience with the place, this time we have shared this magical place with our friends. We had an amazing 3 beautiful days enjoying the beauty of this place-very quiet and relaxing, clean and comfortable accommodation, large grounds, native bush, clean river, great bush walk and a very friendly...

Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review for us! Our future guests often say they read these reviews before booking. You're right about the size of our two Chalets... maybe we could rename them "Tiny Houses" and so better reflect exactly what they are. Blessings.

Welcoming staff, lovely location, peaceful and quiet with brilliant starry sky at night. The cabin was clean, tidy and comfortable for the whole family. The private river and beach with free kayaks and birds calling was great fun too. Would love to visit again!

We certainly would love you to visit again! Thanks for the great review, we're so pleased you were able to "tune into" the sounds & sights of nature that are readily available onsite. The other day we had guests explore our river bank after dark. To their delight they found that our small colony of glow worms (approx. 20) have...

Our trip started with a warm welcome and a tour of the grounds with info as to what further things were available. The room info book was very informative. The lodge family were very friendly and you were always greeted with a smile. The swimming hole was just divine and all of us played on the kayaks. The rooms were...

We stayed here with our 13 and 10 year old daughters. It was the best way to start our holiday. You feel part of the river and bush and have the perfect mix of relaxing and doing. Really well appointed chalet - complete with an amazing dawn chorus. Swim holes were great! What we really loved was exploring up river,...

Thanks for your review!!! It genuinely warmed our heart and put a smile on our faces. To hear of folk abandoning technology, losing track of time, allowing their senses to come alive; to hear, see, feel, taste and smell is absolutely outstanding... and to hear that in so doing your family were able to truly bond, makes all our efforts...

We're very grateful for your review and advice to our future guests, thanks!!! Especially for our overseas guests... Much of our accommodation, whether self-contained or cabins, are very typical of a by-gone era in NZ pioneering history where very basic holiday dwellings were built in often remote, hidden places. Those that still remain are much loved, and were nicknamed "Baches"...
