I've eaten in a lot of different places in Wanganui and around the world so I thought I would share my thoughts on the Irish Pub section. I am always pleased with the food and service I get here, and for the price this is one of the best places to eat, particularly if you have a family, and I...

Great location, in the middle of town, we continue to return for several reasons. The Grand offers great value, a good continental breakfast is included, friendly helpful staff. The lift offers easy access to rooms. There is plenty of parking for guests. The rooms are clean & tidy & we always sleep well while staying. It is a unique Art...

We were pleasantly surprised by the welcoming atmosphere of the Grand Hotel. We had a very nice room with everything one would need for the night. The great outlay of restaurant, pub and breakers made it easy to stay and enjoy a meal. The included breakfast was a great bonus and of very good value. We will certainly stay again...

However, it is possible at this lovingly-restored Victorian hotel! The oil-filled radiator style heater was very efficient on a cold night. The morning waitress at Breaker's where you get your self-service...

Have been into the premises and called to make a booking. On both occasions very rude and uninterested person serving both times. Got the feeling they were not interested in our business and we were an annoyance. Would not recommend anyone to stay at here.

Fantastic value. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was comfortable, well appointed and quiet. Free breakfast included plus free parking. Great location right in the centre of town. Only negative would be the pub food wasn't very good.

Great location, good food, all the amenities we could ask for and exceptional service from the team... down to setting up a tv and seating for us to watch the MotoGP after the bars had closed... made our weekend and we will definitely be back.

Recently attended The Labour Region Three Conference that was held here at the Grand. The venue hosted brilliantly with morning and afternoon teas and a great Saturday night dinner which even catered to the two vegetarians. Tipples are available next door at Breakers, and some participants from out of town took advantage of the room serviec and room booking up...
