We had such a brilliant time at The Albatross. Our twin room and shared bathroom was super clean and the beds were very comfortable. Everybody was warm and friendly, particularly Tim who helped us choose the best activities to do in the area. The common areas were cleaned everyday and they had a spice box and baking box which anybody...

Stopped by this super cute hostel to have a shower - ended up staying for 2 weeks and working there. Never been made to feel so at home in a hostel. Amazing atmosphere and all round awesome people. Great social area, musical instruments, painting, free bikes, communal cooking and Sunday pancakes. Katie and Ben who run the hostel are sparkly...

Rainy, wind and cold weather in Kaikoura but we still enjoyed our trip mostly due to the staff at the Inn whom were all very welcoming and fun to hang out with. Played card games, had a little jam and hung around. Tim was awesome, Billy was fun, Kyle was cool, good people. It is among the more tidy places...

This is a cute and welcoming hostel with fun decor, easy access to the rest of the town, and a nice social environment. Will set up activities at the hostel and also help book things around town. Games, music, and areas to chill in the common room. Full kitchen. Shared bathrooms.

We stayed in one of the doubles and really enjoyed the whole experience. The hostel has no TV, which makes the place very social. Kitchen is well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The owners are very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The vibe was very relaxed and suited two 50 something backpackers right down to the ground.

We had awful luck with our room location; it shared a very thin wall with the kitchen/common area so it was noisy until 2 am with people talking/laughing and banging things around in the kitchen. Then, at 6 am it was noisy again with people getting breakfast. We could even hear the tea kettle warming up! The toilets are tucked...

I'll start by saying that it's a really nice hostel. Quirky and cute and I can see why it got such good reviews. However, we had a horrible experience with one of the owners. Unfortunately, after the reception was closed (closes 7PM), we pulled the covers to get into bed in our double room and saw a white crusty stain...
