We stopped here, as a group of nearly 50, on our way to Christchurch. I appreciate that accommodation is at a premium with the aftermath of the disastrous earthquake still causing great logistical problems. This was motel style, clean and comfortable beds, if in great need of a lick of paint and updating. The view from our window was lovely...

This bed and breakfast was a huge let down. It has been allowed to run down and is musty and old. We were dubious of the hygiene and couldn't wait to leave. The room was 70s decor and we struggled to relax in the bed for fear of crawlies. Breakfast was awful. Find somewhere else to stay.

Came with a group of 36 in chartered bus. Friendly staff, great scenery from our room, comfortable bed, lovely walks around the complex. The only drawback was the food and slow service and lack of selection for our group. Suggestion for future large groups is to simplify the catering and do smogsboard type meals so people can help themselves and...

Stayed at Donegal House during a recent visit with my Probus Club to the South Island. We were all impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the comfortable beds and the excellent meals werved in the dining room/bar in front of a roaring fire. The Irish music videos and singalongs were also enjoyed by us, which helps early on in...

This establishment could be so much more. The room was clean and the beds were comfy but the exterior and service lacking. The poor lady cooking breakfasts was also having to clear the busy restaurant as well. The outside could do with a jolly good clean-up with old chairs and rubbish in the pond. Signage outside directing visitors to the...

The accommodation is very good quality in a lovely location. The irish bar, staff, food, ambiance is second to none. You will have a great experience. The owner will come a chat ...it's not annoying. He wants to know where you are from etc...... lovely guy and staff.

Stayed at this "Hotel" on 14/03/2015 as a member of a Group Tour. My wife and I were accommodated in the older section, no wardrobe, shower head height had to be a type of Irish joke, refrigerator unplugged, overbed light not working. Bed was comfortable. Fixed menu for dinner with steak cooked to medium - no exceptions. Medium/well cooked request...

A nice surprise freedom camp for our 1st night in a campervan We were concerned at first when we found it on the Rankers App, but when we arrived, it was indeed free. The Hotel have put aside a gravel area (20 spaces at least?) for complimentary campervan overnight parking. Self-contained only, and no expectation to spend anything in the...

Twin queen size beds (room 40) with beautiful garden view across to the mountains. A short drive to town in a pastoral setting. Heavy on the Irish theme which is OK bearing in mind the owner's history from the old country. Value is good compared to in-town offerings. No wi-fi in room, but free in bar/restaurant area

As the name implies the Donegal House Hotel/Motel has a strong Irish theme. It is set in beautiful grounds with a couple of ponds well populated by ducks. Our room was very comfortable and everything worked. The restaurant/bar is well stocked and there is Guinness on tap (though it wouldn't win any prizes in Temple Bar!). The menu is good...
