We booked this motel after reading about it in the lonely planet book and trip advisor. I always believe in keeping open minded about what I read, both good and bad, not that there was anything bad reported about Sails. We found everything about our stay here just perfect. Everything was spotlessly clean, the shower hot and powerful, comfortable bed,...

A friend and I stayed for one night in a 2 bed apartment which we were able to book at short notice. My friend was unwell and needed quiet and privacy so we had shifted from hostel accommodation. The hosts were so kind and understanding, gave us early check in and swift information and booking on to a suitable tour....

Sails is one of the more affordable hotels in Kaikoura. With only three units, it is clean and homely, and quietly located in a rear section on the beachfront only 10 minutes walk from the town. The hosts are very friendly, and Deb is always ready with helpful advice and information. A little over-zealous, perhaps: once a unit is let,...

My wife and I were traveling to New Zealand with another couple, I had reviewed several hotels/motels in the area on Trip Advisor and because of our being a little late in our booking most of them showed no vacancy. I decided to contact Sails directly and they had two rooms available. The owner was very helpful in giving me...

We were delighted with this small secluded motel in a convenient location. It was spotlessly clean, well equipped and Deb was extremely pleasant and helpful. It was also very reasonably priced and we would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Kaikoura. Heather and Ian

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. It's located on the main beach strip of the town far enough away from the bustle of the tourists but not too far away. The rooms are self-contained and very very clean and very quiet. Deb is very helpful and made our stay great. Full of local information and things to do...

This was our first stop on a long road trip and we were very pleased to find it. What a break from the norm with such a lovely welcome. This hotel is very private, down a drive way. The room we stayed in was one of there little units with a Queen bed sofa and little TV and a table...

This little motel is tucked away just behind the seafront road. It's rooms are a good size and are immaculate. Each has tv, a microwave, fridge and China etc. The bed was very comfortable and even had an electric blanket. Deb greeted us and suggested places to eat and visit and could not have been kinder or more helpful. Our...

Central to all activities. This is situated on a lovely quiet rear section with narrow single lane access, so slow and careful driving is necessary when entering and exiting. The hostess Deb is really friendly and helpful, being only too happy to make bookings and suggestions as to what you can do while visiting Kaikoura. A very memorable visit thank...
