Drove down the street looking for a sign for Sandilands. Couldn't see one so went on the internet just to double check we were in the right place. Yes! we were....went up to the front door and it was locked. Luckily my husband went for a walk around the side where we found a sign saying that we had to... More

Arrived at Sandilands to find a for sale board on the garden outside and a note on a side door saying that the restaurant was closed and that keys for accommodation could be picked up from the holiday park next door. The receptionist there was very nice, told us we could park on the drive and also that the restaurant... More

Sandilands is in a good location for shops and the harbour. The steep steps may be a bridge too far for some but the room was clean and comfortable with breakfast provided. The view from the room is over to the busy harbour. Parking was off road in the Holiday Park next door. Receptionist very friendly and helpful.

I stayed here overnight with a couple of friends. The receptionist was friendly and welcoming but the positives end there. We were mortified to find that the bedding had not been changed since the previous guests. The blanket had leaves and crumbs on it and the sheets below had hair strands from the previous guest! In the other room the pillow... More

After a long drive from it was so lovely to stay in a beautiful old charming, warm and comfortable place. Everything you needed was there at a very reasonable price. It was like being looked after by your grandmother. My partner and I loved this old place and reading some of the other reviews cannot understand how someone could not... More

We really enjoyed our stay at Sandilands, room was very clean, well equipped and very comfortable. Right in town centre so getting to restaurants etc. was an easy walk. Nice views from our room too. Price was very reasonable.

Recently stayed in Sandilands and was really pleasantly surprised. The building itself looks a little tatty but the room itself and furnishings were great! Really comfy bed with crisp white linen and toast/cereals/juice provided for breakfast in the fridge. The place is on the main road in Portland so you're close to all the amenities. You do have to collect... More

Stayed here one night for $90. Pros: Cozy room, with a view to the street. Newly renovated and clean. Fridge contained a very nice selection of breakfast supplies. Cons: There is no reception!!! Our late arrival proved to be a quest for keys. There was no note left for us in any obvious place, so only by accident we found... More

My friend and I stayed here on the 2nd April 2012. We booked the accommodation because it stated it was a Hotel with a "Deluxe double room with sea view". Unfortunately we weren't able to do research on it before we went. When we arrived we were very disappointed as the facade looked like an old victorian working mens club... More

Bookings and keys are made a couple of doors down at the portland holiday village. When we went in there it wasn't offered as an option initially till we mentioned we'd seen it on wotif.com We chose room 4 at the back which was slightly cheaper ($85) but just as spacious at the harbour view rooms. The rooms were newly... More
