Of all our travels in NZ, this backpackers has been memorable across the years. It's in an excellent location, has gorgeous gardens, clean and comfortable amenities, amazing staff, and they serve the world's most delicious - no joke - warm chocolate bread pudding each night as part of your stay. Talk about hospitality! I'd recommend this backpackers to any traveler...

the best place I have been since the beginning of my trip. Feels like being home with your family. You probably will want to go there for one night but trust me that you will stay there at least for 3-4 nights like everyone. And the chocolate pudding, Ah the chocolate pudding!!!

This pretty much has everything you would want. Free wi-fi, good facilities with big kitchen, clean showers, washing line to hang clothes and lots of places to sit and relax, friendly owners and of course the free pudding an ice cream which is fantastic. You will not go wrong staying here

This backpack is well known for its chocolate pudding with ice cream that is served every evening at 8pm short (since 9 years!). But it should be known for their convenient rooms (dorms are bigger than in the majority of backpackers, toilets are separate for male/female & showers ate also quite good. I recommend this hostel.

We found the hostel to be very cozy; clean with friendly staff and two fully equipped kitchens. As an added plus ice cream & pudding was served to the guests every night at 8:pm. Free storage provided for gear while away tramping.

Having worked in Nelson for 6 weeks and living there for almost 3 months I actually ended up trying 4 of Nelsons hostels. Tasman Bay is by far the best hostel in Nelson and one of the best if not the best hostel I have stayed at in New Zealand. It is a very homely hostel with a large living...

Everyone was so friendly and the kitchens and rooms were very clean and well equipped. It was very well kept as well, with everything looking like it was checked regularly. The showers were great and roomy as well with good pressure. Chocolate self saucing pudding was also a nice bonus! Only a 10 min walk to the supermarket and centre...

I stayed for one night but would've loved staying for longer! The atmosphere is really cool, the rooms were big and comfortable, the bathrooms are big as well and the fact you get free chocolate pudding is a nice detail. The owners are really nice and do pick you up at the bus station. The kithcen and dining areas are...

Tasman Bay Backpackers is the perfect hostel in my opinion. The compromise between price and location is great. It's only a 10 minute walk to the city center. The hostel is extremely clean and very well maintained. Most of the time hostels look a bit shabby because naturally where there are many people, things get used and broken and usually...
