My partner and I stayed here for two nights while staying in Nelson. The staff were super friendly and the room that we were put in literally reminded me of home - it was a lovely room inside the old villa. They were very kind and allowed us to store our gear there for a night while we were kayaking...

We have booked the place so to experiece backpacker travel style by sharing rom with outsider, and of all possible choice, i thought be good to try it while in the south island and true enough, the residents are nice and considerate as i overheard at the common lounge one has his phone voice slight louder and was immediately reminded...

Hey, I stayed almost for a whole week at the Bug because I enjoyed, for one the Hostel itself and also Nelson quite a lot . The bug basically has everything you could want from a Hostel. Super friendly and helpful staff and owners, a nice kitchen, free WiFi, a garden, FREE bikes to lend and even a cat... that...

Stayed here back in November with a few friends. We had been camping for the past few weeks so we were excited to finally have a bed and shower! It turned out to be a busy weekend because of the Nelson Cider festival and Bug was the only available hostel. Well this worked out in our favour! There were four...

Some hostels just have 'it' and some don't. Bug has it. They've created a nice space for people to stay. There's bikes to hire for free and a massive selection of games to play. They kitchen was well equipped. When I arrived with my boyfriend it transpires that our Hostelworld booking was for two beds in separate rooms. As we...

We had booked a private room which was located in a separate building to the office. The room itself was fine, with the exception of the fact that the window opened right into the parking lot and everyone could see right in, however blinds and curtains were provided. This was only an issue as it was very hot and blinds...

Fantastic stay at the Bug Backpackers and would highly recommend. An opportunity came up to go on a spur of the moment road trip, Mike was very understanding and nice about it all, even refunded the rest of my stay which no other hostel I have stayed in would do at such short notice. It's a very friendly and homely...

Had a positive stay with helpful staff, however there was an extra charge for paying on card so price was not what was advertised or agreed to. Would stay again though, lots of other young travellers there to meet & a guitar in the lounge was a nice touch.

Thank you Kyle for your good review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay. The 3% surcharge when you pay with credit card is advertised. Also, you are given the option to pay with cash if you like. The Bug Team/Stefanie

Our stay at the bug was great. Yes it is a little far from the center but they offer a free shuttle service. The breakfast is great. Our room was very clean and we had a lot of space. The staff was very friendly. Special thanks to Mike he is always concerned about you. Even when you leave he gives...
