Loved staying at The Palace! No bunk beds, free breakfast, free wifi, free bakery items in the afternoon. I stayed in the separate apartment style room off to the side which had it's own kitchen and bathroom - loved it and I suggest requesting it! I was in a 5 bed room and there was also a private room with...

The staff is extremly nice, the free brackfast is great and the place really feels like a home away from home. The beds are real beds (not bunks) and the location is great, close to everything and stil quite and fun.

Back in late 2015 we pre-booked YHAs and BBH registered hostels for our 2 months in New Zealand and we've been really impressed with the overall standard. That was until we came to the Palace and were allocated "The Staff Room" - it was the worst ever! A worn single sheet stretched over a double mattress, net curtains black with...

This is my favorite hostel so far in New Zealand! Sometimes there is fresh free fruit from the garden. There is always endless wifi, wonderful interior and exterior. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Stayed here on two occasions, loved it each time!

I stayed in a share dorm room 2 nights before and 2 nights after my friend and I hiked the Abel Tasman track. The rooms were spacious and clean, I liked the high ceilings and old fashioned decor. All beds in his hostel are real beds! No bunks. This is a nice change from having someone either above or below...

I actually planned to stay for only one night but in the end I sextended for three more nights. The Palace has a great service, a nice receptionist, who showed me around and lovely rooms. Enough places to sit together and chat or just hang out, such as a tv room, a living room and an outside area. It has...

Had very good reviews so gave it a try. First I was thrown off by the high amount of steps to walk up given I had very heavy luggage to carry up.. This place is on a hill, which on the other hand offers you a nice view for sunrise. The receptionist was nice, showed me around and helped carrying...

Be prepared to mix with young people of every race. Beautiful atmosphere. Lovely breakfast. If you're older - this is a younger persons accommodation. My sister and I loved it. Clean and close to everything! Good fun x

We loved staying at The Palace - free breakfast, free baked goods in the evenings, sunny BBQ area, huge selection of movies to watch and charming rambling old house. The long-termers can be a bit cliquey but there's always lots of opportunities to socialise and the location is very close to supermarket and 5-10 min from town centre, weekend market...
