We took our grand daughters to Nelson for their New Years Eve celebration. The hotel staff and facilities were excellent. They even had ketchup! The celebration held downtown was clean, well run, safe and a lot of fun!

Cannot see a reason as to why the guest should be paying for parking when we have paid so much for the room. This is the first time from all the hotels we've been to, that we had to pay for parking within hotel premises. Other than that the rooms were pretty good.

I used to hang out at the Rutherford when I was a schoolgirl, sneaking in to listen to bands. I also spent the first night of my honeymoon there so it was a delight to go back and see how it had changed. Not much at all, but in a good way. We stayed for 10 nights - the rooms...

Staff was not very helpful as they simply pointed us in the direction of the town's information center when inquiring about location attractions. We were disappointed to find extremely high Internet and phone rates. We made one five minute call to a New Zealand number, and we were charged $5. Completely ridiculous. Rooms were average in decor (old bedspreads) and...

Only stayed a couple of nights in Nelson, but this hotel was definitely good enough for me. It was within walking distance to places to shop and eat, and the hotel room itself was just like any other, clean, big bed, nice bathroom. I always appreciate a good towel robe as well. The Japanese restaurant within the restaurant is absolutely...

Although very slightly shabby around the edges, this place appears to be well run and offers a good standard of accommodation. My gripe is that the free wifi is very limited. I didn't explore the paid options. The meal in the in-house restaurant, Oceanea, was very nice. The breakfast was good too. The other small gripe, which is not the...

A very enjoyable hotel. Comfortable, clean and with very helpful staff. While there we had a fire alert and had to evacuate to the front car park, exciting late at night. A false alarm thank goodness. No complaints with the hotel and we had a pleasant stay.

Opened, I think, in 1972 and this dominant building on the Nelson skyline has the look of a building of that vintage. I stayed here for 7 nights across two visits and was struck by how quiet it always seemed. The hotel has all the normal offerings - the only thing missing from the good sized rooms was a safe...

"Walked in" without a reservation and were promptly looked after by a "trainee" Receptionist who did an excellent job! Have to say that the friendly, efficient and attentive staff are the real stars of this Hotel. We were always greeted with a "Hello" and a smile, even whilst walking through the foyer. We paid $5 for parking, which is reasonable...
