Unique property and ideal for the discerning, eco-minded traveller: Situated in a quiet, upmarket area of central Nelson, Joya comprises a ground floor studio apartment in a three story heritage villa and a log studio - with grass roof - set in gardens with various water features. Both studios are self-contained. An optional organic breakfast can be served in the villa or on its main deck, which has a view of the city. Extensive in-and outdoor living from both studios. All water to the property passes through a filtering system for chlorine free drinking and bathing. For those staying in the villa itself breakfast is included in the rates. The Villa Room - with balcony - as well as the Den - are on the top floor. They are good value for money rooms but do not have an ensuite. Joya has had consistent top ratings for several years. Great hospitality, great location!

We stayed here on our grand tour of New Zealand and it was Exceptional in every way. The villa feels like you are in your own paradise even though it is in Nelson centre and Paulina’s hosting is second to none. Treat yourself to her breakfast. Will go down as a special part

Kia Ora, Really happy with these kind words. Even though I am sure Joya is not for everyone, because we all have different likes and dislikes. However, it certainly is our intention to create a space where guests can feel at ease, have peace and quiet around them, a lot of greenery and have a nutritious breakfast. So, really happy to learn that we hit the mark. Have a safe journey home! Best, Paulina

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Joya, both for Joya itself and for its location in what may well be the loveliest part of Nelson (and very accessible by foot from the center of town). Regarding Joya itself, the tranquil surroundings, the beautiful lily ponds set in a wonderfully

Thanks, Kathleen. I much appreciate your kind words. Joya's location and especially the cottage situated in its lush gardens are quite an unexpected bonus while still being so close to central Nelson. Again, thanks for the recommendation. All the best to you and yours. Paulina

Our host is very accommodating and went to great lengths to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location is within walking distance of the city center so that was a plus. The bed Linen and pillows were better than I've experienced in many high price hotels. The

Kia Ora, Thanks for this most gracious review. I am glad with your detailed comments on what's good and what may need improving. Regarding the twi 'issues' : I have always been a bit reluctant to buy a microwave since Joya is an organic place and from what I've understand, most of my guests prefer an oven. But there are microwave/oven combo's and next time we will replace some of the kitchen gadgets in the villa studio, I will buy one. I intend to replace the television as well. Hope that will do the trick. Thank you for the five stars. I really appreciate the feedback. Hope to meet again, Paulina

Thank you Guy for this very special review. Much appreciated. Hope you enjoyed the remainder of the journey. With your scientific background New Zealand will have had a lot more to offer than what meets the eye for most tourists. Wish you and your family a happy life. And who knows, perhaps I have the opportunity to meet your daughter again while she is still here. Best to you all! Paulina

Dear Wendy, Thank you first of all for your interest in Joya as a nice base for those two months. We only have two studios that would suit but unfortunately those are no longer available for such a stretch of time. That is really a pity since one of the specialities in my other line of work is accelerated language learning - see joyacentre,co.nz. and for those clients I often reduce the rates for accommodation a lot in order to make this method more financially doable Only if you were to wait until next year this would be an option. But with the situation as it is for the next two months this will not be possible. I fear that finding something suitable and not too costly will be difficult unfortunately. Just in case you can postpone we certainly can discuss further. Best regards and good luck, Paulina
