This place is just something else. They say it's a hostel but i felt like staying in a very private holiday home directly at the sea surrounded by tropical plants. The hosts were extremely helpful people and it really felt like staying with friends.

Elke and Ron were both great hosts; friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help whenever needed. Lovely people! The hostel itself was clean, comfortable and even had a whole array of herbs, spices, tea and coffee for free! This makes cooking so much more tasty and cheaper. The location was a little out of the way, you would need a car...

I visited 4 nights and had to pry myself away when it was time to go. Ron is an extremely generous and accommodating host. Great beach walks. Lovely gardens. Long Beach is wonderful if you're a swimmer. Ron knows and shares all the history of the area. When they tell you to not drive out at night, please heed their...

We stayed 2 nights in November at the start of our North Island trip. Staying at Wainui was a great way to start. Ron and Elke are lovely and the view from the room looking out to the bay is very nice. We were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves which made it feel like we were staying...

What a lovely place is Wainui Lodge! Surrounded by woods, birds and looking over the bay of Russel, the location of Wainui Lodge is perfect! inside, it is not that big, but there are only 2 rooms so that's okay. Taking the stairs to our room under the roof felt like going to your own bird's nest: safe and warm....

Elke and Ron could not have been more welcoming and helpful. The room was lovely and very clean, the kitchen was well stocked and the perks were plentiful. We enjoyed a morning kayak and their recommendations of what to do in Russell were spot on. We really enjoyed our stay and their company. Highly recommend this beautiful hostel.

It was a really great moment in this little backpackers. It is really beautiful, the two bedrooms are really quite, clean and Ron was very nice with us. He came to explain us the history of Russel and all the things we had to do. Go there if you stop in Russel. The backpackers has a great view on the...

This little backpackers (as mentioned it only sleeps a max of five people) is a true home away from home. The place is pretty much another house just next to the owners house, spotlessly clean, with very nice views on the sea (from the double room) and a one minute walk from the sea. They offer everything you could ask...

This two bedroom backpackers hostel has a lovely relaxing atmosphere and is kept immaculately clean. Ron and Elke are the perfect hosts, they picked us up from the passenger ferry in their car and again to meet the amazing boat trip to the islands. Ron has a great knowledge of the area and its history, and useful information and ideas...

This lodge is on the road to the ferry between Opua and Russel. We recommend to take the ferry to get there (11$ with your car for 10minutes, when you spend one hour to ride from Paihia) This place is a real paradise, little house in the middle of the bush, Ron is an amazing host, always trying to give...
