Beautiful place with great food! The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of some maintenance and housekeeping issues in the beginning which took some time to resolve but were eventually resolved to my satisfaction.

Hotel's Favourite
I am a single mother who was travelling with my children aged 9 and 12 in Dec 2022. Since I was travelling solo I wanted to ensure that the place I chose was safe and the Palace did not disappoint! I would definitely go back and recommend Food - we all really enjoyed the food here. The buffets were HUGE and there is no way you couldn't find something enjoyable to eat - lots of selection and it was all cooked properly. We also tried the Italian and the Steak house and had no issues getting into either. Both were great and no complaints. At lunch time each day they had a different special snack bar beside the pool that was yummy. No one got sick (Whoo hoo) Resort - clean and well maintained!! Not far from the airport which was a huge bonus Room - no complaints! It was large, clean and the fridge was stocked daily. Coffee machine and liquor was supplied. Our view was of the garden area which was nice as you could see wildlife. Towels were always refreshed. Staff - all were friendly and made our stay so enjoyable!! When we checked in our room had 1 King bed vs 2 queens and when I went to the front desk the issue was corrected immediately even though I wasnt worried about it. Beach - its a public beach so yes, there are locals on it. All were friendly! We had no issues with the vendors either and a polite "no thank you" was all you had to say and they wouldnt ask again. Lots of chairs and shade as well. Bring down bananas and grapes to feed the monkeys that are to the left of the beach. Tip - they are picky about their food options and dont like strawberries lol. Waterpark - we loved having this option! so much fun and its right on property. Excursions - we booked an all day private tour with Wilton (first tent on the beach that you come to). It was a very long day but we had a fabulous time with our guide. We never felt un safe and would recommend. We also did the zip lining that was close by and it was perfect for my childrens ages.

We stayed at the Riu Palace as we were celebrating our wedding ceremony with a group of our family and friends. It was absolutely beautiful. Initially, when arriving we had a standard room but after requesting for an upgrade for a suite with a jacuzzi tub on the balcony, the staff at the reception desk (Johnny and Queqim) had accommodated beyond our expectations. Our wedding planner (Ana) that we were conversing with over the past few months was away that week but, her replacement (Jordan) was fabulous!! Ana was very attentive to us through the long distance planning. I felt no stress as they had everything taken care of. Our dinner that was including in our wedding package was the best meal we had there. The staff that tended to us were fantastic! When we returned to our room after our wedding reception, the staff had decorated our room, congratulating us. It was a very nice gesture and it was appreciated. There is a large selection of food. We did not have any issues with reserving our meal for dinner or available seating for dinner. We did however have to wait a short time for the Japenese restaurant. It was worth the wait. The lunch BBQ by the pool was also delicious! The beach was nice but the sand was super hot through the day. We had an evening swim in the ocean as the sun was setting and it was absolutely perfect. We did a group RTV adventure and ziplining. This was such an amazing experience! The monkey bar, which is about a 10 min walk down the beach from the resort was awesome. We really enjoyed seeing the monkeys. This was my first experience at a large resort and we had the best week with our family and friends. Thank you for making this a memorable experience for us. (I apologize if I mispelled your names as mentioned above)

This property is in need of updating. Staff does a good job at keeping it clean. Service is very good and even took drink orders on beach. This location has same problem as all the other palace's, no bathroom close to pools! Another huge issue is people saving lounge chairs by pools. Management needs to figure a way to stop this very selfish habit. There was a attendent on the beach helping people get lounge chair from stack as they were needed.Maybe same thing could be done by pools.

Overall we were very pleased with the resort. Would be nice if they could do something about the musty smell in the rooms and really need more washrooms around the pools. It was annoying looking for a lounge chair at the (4) pools with people putting towels on them but not even showing up but that’s at most resorts… just wish this practice would STOP! Lots of food choices (all very good!), entertainment entertaining and staff very pleasant, even resident iguanas. Would go back. If you’re looking for white sandy beaches this is not the spot.

I enjoyed my visit very much. The staff in every section of the resort were amazing and provided great service even when busy. Food was amazing at the buffet restaurant breakfast and dinner. The a la cart restaurants were not good in my opinion. I recommend Costa Rica at the Riu palace for sure!!! Pura Vida 🐒🦥🦎

Costa Rica is a beautiful place and loved touring the rainforest, waterfalls and tasting authentic food. I’ve been to the Riu Antilles in Aruba and had a great experience. Unfortunately was very disappointed in Costa Rica. The buffet was decent at best 2 Nights. The roasted chicken was tasty at the steakhouse. The cafe served delicious coffee and treats. The AC did not work in the lobby or restaurants of this hotel…Only the buffet had AC. The lunch was pretty bad and the food sat in the heat…Only the salads were refrigerated. This hotel lacked nightlife . The Neon party was not fun at all. It was too hot to enjoy yourself. When at the pool or beach, it was better to walk to the bar than wait for a drink. It took over 30 minutes to get a beverage. The beds and pillows weren’t comfortable.

Just awesome. We had a great family vacation. All staff were friendly, helpful and responsive. Lots of food options and drinks service. Extra shout out to the activities staff who were high energy and talented. Every activity was "family welcome" but still geared toward adult fun, which allowed us to participate in more activities when the kids club was closed than other resorts have. We would have enjoyed this resort just as much if we had come as a couple. A truly all-inclusive experience!
