We choose this guest house because of all the very positive reviews and we weren't disappointed. The lady of the house, Muthu, was very welcoming and made us a pot of tea and biscuits. Later that evening she prepared a meal that was as good as any we'd had in Sri Lanka - I would say probably the best. In the morning before catching the tuk tuk they'd arranged to take us th Hortons Plain she made a pot of tea and biscuits. The breakfast that we were given on our return fro the Plains was fantastic - my wife had asked for a Sri Lankan breakfast while I had asked for some Sri Lankan bread and jam. Our choices were complimented by sweet pancakes and yogurts. I can't stress our appreciation at the care and quality given by Muthu - I can only recommend it to future visitors th Hortons Plain. Ohiya is the nearest railway station to The Plains And Forest Cyniciam will not disappoint. Thank you.

We felt like in the hands of a precise majordomus, who knew very well, how to treat us as nobility. Muthu was invisible, but always there for us, so kind, all the time in a good mood and shiny smilling. She was prepared to bring a gigantic milktea with cookies anytime during the day, ready to pack for us delicious homemade breakfast, or to cook absolutely amazing meal to eat in the dining hall. Whether arriving, going for trip to Horton Plains, exploring the neighbouring forests, local temple (with our lovely guide, thank you!) or leaving, the family was always prepared to help us with anything we needed. Mahinda took us with his tuk-tuk to the Plains, showing us all the interesting places and animals around. Shortly I must say, that THIS WAS OUR VERY BEST EXPERIENCE FROM SRI LANKA! We have spent 3 weeks in Sri Lanka and still this family and their loving home with Nawanga telling stories of the Buddhist-Hindu world and with Muthu cooking the very best meals for dinners that we have encountered (yes, it is hard to say that in a country cooking such delicious food anyway) was our very best part of it. As for weather we enjoyed extremely sunny place during the day and mysterious mist falling afternoon/evening from the „worlds ends“ of Horton Plains. We’ve seen distant thunderstorm with the most beautiful lightning all over the sky so full of stars, that you are never able to observe in Europe.

We spent three weeks in Sri Lanka and this was our favourite guest house. We arrived by train and were offered a free TukTuk pickup. But we decided to walk (5min walk and easy to find). Highlights: A very warm welcome with tea and homemade cookies every morning+afternoon. And breakfast/lunch package for our hiking trips through Horton Plains and from Ohiya to the Bambarakanda Waterfall (definitely recommended!). „Helped“ with the dinner preparations and learned a lot! We were happy with our guest room (they even washed our laundry for free) and price was reasonable Protip: Stay in Ohiya instead of Nuwara Eliya (really close to Horton Plains & awesome hiking trails, cheaper and „real“ Sri Lanka daily life) Dear Family, Hope to see you soon in Austria – opening your first Sri Lankan restaurant :)

Actually I didn't stay here but I came to ask if there were other travelers in their house to share a tuk tuk to Horton's Plains with. After a warm welcome I was invited into their house and they arranged a group for me. In the end I was even asked to stay for dinner with them! Incredibly friendly people. Thanks a lot!
