My husband and I were traveling the north coast of the country and had no firm plans, so we did not prebook our stay. Once in Las Terrenas, we Googled hotels and this one popped up. It is a hidden gem. It is in a great location, walking distance to restaurants and shops. The staff is super helpful and friendly. They went above and beyond to welcome us and make sure we were happy. The hotel, grounds, and rooms are spotless. The room was so clean and I am very picky about cleanliness. Costarena is just what you think of when you think of a beach hotel. The decor is very cute and the rooms are simple and comfortable. If you are expecting a newly renovated, “fancy” hotel, this isn’t for you. The hotel is steps from its own private beach and has a pool. Our room has its own balcony that got a beautiful breeze in the afternoons and evenings. The air conditioning worked perfectly too. The hotel / beach has a small restaurant. We only ate breakfast (free!), because there were so many other food options close by. The food was solid - not amazing, but certainly good. The front desk helped us book massages, which were also amazing. Finally, the price cannot be beat. I highly recommend Costarena!

We were there for 11 days in Dec.-23. Charming and lovely room, good bed, clean, fantastic view of the cozy garden and the sea. All the staff nice, friendly and welcoming. Very cozy restaurant, good lunch and dinner dishes for very reasonable prices and friendly staff.

First of all I must say that the AC and hot water worked. The staff seemed very nice and polite. These are important. For the price…this hotel needs a major renovation. Our room, well…it felt like we were staying in a seedy motel not on lovely beach on a tropical island. Sorry. From the roof shingles flapping in the wind to the purple and green walls; sub-standard cement repairs on walls. Bathroom had so much wasted space. Needs better lay out plan thought. A turn lock on door handle was all we had for room security. Breakfast wasn’t great. Little extras like a small coffee pot, bedside lamps can polish things off right. I was really hoping for something better. I am normally a very easy going person. But I expected more for the price.

Excellent service, we were upgraded without even asking to a 2 bedroom apatment oceanfront with magnificent views of the hotel and its well manicured grounds to the roar of the ocean. Just across from the reception and rooms is a small restaurant for an included hot breakfast, outside the windows the ocean makes itself known. We drove from Sosua on the North Coast 3.5 hours and so didn't drrive around a lot. We did walk and enjoyed the sites and the stores and the people. Great restaurants on either side of our hotel which was great, one seafood, the other Italian.

They stole my money. When I checked in they took my money twice which I realised after checking my bank account. It was difficult to complain as the staff only speak basic english. I had to explain and draw the difference between pounds, dollars and euros. I was promised to get my money back but few days later I still didn’t get it. I was trying to sort it out asking them to make an online payment or give the cash back but they didn’t want to sort it out. There’s no manager or director at this hotel. On top of that terrible wifi making it impossible to use internet at all. When I asked about it they told me: „many people at the hotel”.

The beds are very short and with my height of 190 cm I protruded by at least 10 cm. My wife and I travel a lot, but such short beds were nowhere to be seen. We asked for an exchange for a room with two beds, but the price was unreasonably high: 600 USD. At the time, there were several hotels with twin rooms priced at $ 350-450. Unfortunately, it was no longer possible to cancel the stay here. If you have a longer figure, I recommend accommodation in another hotel. Otherwise the hotel is very clean, cleaned every day. The rooms are spacious, the hot shower works perfectly, the pool is nice. Breakfast at the beach bar across the street from the hotel was good. There were plenty of free sunbeds on the beach for hotel guests. The sea is clean with a beautiful beach and gradual access to the sea. There are also restaurants and bars in the area. Aso after a kilometer begins the zone of shops and other restaurants.

We booked our trip on expedia and were quoted 56 bucks a night, we made a mistake and booked one room instead of two, we phoned the hotel directly to hold the second room which they did When we arrived however they insisted on charging us more for the second room having already confirmed on the telephone that the initial rate would be charged. The rooms are basic to say the least although the position is first class, what really upset me was for the same price as the one charged we could have rented a luxury 2 bed apartment nearby for the same enhanced price There is a lot of smell of paint as painting is going g on and check out the state of the art TV Sorry I'm not happy, I know its cheap but I disliked the attitude of the reception

The location is the best possible. Inside pool and outside beach restaurant within walking distance (just on cross the street). Rooms clean and safe. I did my room clean inspection and passed with 100% (my towel paper keeped white after my cleanup). The hotel have all the protocol for host you with COVID-19 and their employees follow the rules perfectly and also ask firm to the guest to follows too. I love the custormer service, Yudith and Ana were the best. Yudith taked care of us in all of the accomodations duties and Ana in the beach restaurant. I loved my safe stay with my family and recommend to anyone who want to be in a safe place. I felt like in home, but with a beach in my frontyard and a pool in the backyard.

My wife and I stayed here in 2018 for 15 days and in 2020 for 10 days, it’s a great value with a great location to town and the local restaurants. The rooms and facilities are simple but clean & the price includes breakfast in the morning which is simple but nice. Ana & Ive the owners and the entire staff from the front desk, bartenders at the Kiosk bar and restaurant on the beach, the housekeepers and the landscapers are wonderful and have always treated us very nice. We will be back again

My wife and I stayed 7 nights with a hotel reservation. We arrived here by private taxi($148) from the Whostel in Santiago, at 1 PM, less than a 4 hour drive through vast rice fields. Their Spanish speaking receptionist processed my Visa card, then provided a small bag with our keys, AC and TV(CNN/CBS in English) controls, and tickets for beach/pool towels. A bellman carried our bags up the 2 flights of steps to our 3rd floor room #B10. The entry key activates the electricity to this clean tiled spacious room with a comfortable king, 2 nightstands, 3 door closet, refer, bag stand, shelf unit with TV, small desk and chair, and spacious fully outfitted bathroom with separate shower. Our private patio, with a table and 2 chairs, both inside and out, overlooks the beach bar and the Atlantic surf. The 7:30 AM breakfast buffet(sometimes delayed and unorganized) is served at the El Kiosco with fresh fruit, OJ, coffee/hot milk/tea, meat, cheese, scrambled eggs and pancakes. The pool with foot/body shower is overlooked by a massage room and 2 bike gym which we used daily. Our general situation here is nearly perfect in good weather with the perfect walk-able Playa Bellenas(calm, wide with gentle slope) extending for 1.5 km to the west, while 600 m to the east begin the restaurants of the Pueblo de Los Pescadores and the village. To its south, we found the small Supermarket Ignacio, then nearly a further km, the large Super Mercado Lindo/Scotiabank. Las Terrenas caters to an older Italian and French clientele; we enjoyed our visit and this property was an excellent value at ~$US 70/night, using our Visa.
