We got recommended by our hotel to this pub and as soon as we walked in were greeted by this amazing staircase with so much history. They were packed and said there'd be a lengthy wait for meals but it wasn't that long and the food was very good. Unfortunately once the crowd left the service at the left a...

A beautiful old building. What a shame the staff running it are so hopeless. Im talking some of the rudest, most unhelpful staff I've come across, in the over 30 countries I've travelled in. I just hope they pull their socks up, or get replaced, so this grand old building can have the custodians it deserves.

Hi Jono, My goodness, I do apologise for what has clearly been a very sub standard visit to our venue. I've passed this onto senior management team and will investigate who was working and the situations surrounding your visit. Thank you for taking the time to leave us feedback. Good or bad we do appreciate the honesty. I'd love to...

In the interest of fairness and balance (see previous review which was posted twice for reasons unknown) this update is provided. We unfortunately left something of value in our room at the Empire Hotel and, when contacted, the manager agreed immediately to forward-mail the item and declined our offer to meet the cost. Very commendable and helpful.

This hotel is grand inside - just beautiful - from the stairs to the walls, ceilings, decor - very well complimented and takes your mind back to ol school memories in Tassie. Their meals fresh and delicious - whiting! The staff friendly and smiles. I will definately return to this hotel Cheers Management !

Our family headed into the empire for dinner. Ordered were the following: Chicken parmigiana and salad: Good size, cooked well. Salad included: dry, required more dressing. Carbonara (large size): Passible, small serving left our daughter needing to eat when she got home. T bone steak with salad. medium to medium rare: cooked to well done, not a pink bit of...

The accommodation manager recommended the Empire hotel for dinner and we took the advice. Very warm welcome, some chat over the bar with pre dinner drinks. They offered for us to buy a Tasmanian wine from their bottle shop to have with dinner, no corkage charge! The food was above expectation, a high standard with great flavours. We did not...

We arrived on a very cold, bleak, rainy, misty, cloudy Tasmanian afternoon..... tired. We had pre booked, and checked in at the Bar... What a greeting!!!!! Amazing, the foyer, encompasses a most fabulous balustrade'... partly, made in the U.K. Using local pine....we were fortunate enough to have one of the 2 rooms with bath... very comfortable. The Manager, Reg. With...

As we entered the hotel it's charm and glory was evident with the impressive beautiful hand carved staircase-just stunning! We had a meal in the dining room decorated as one would expect after experiencing the entry stairs, more of the same charm. Staff were very friendly, meal come and it was for the very hungry, very generous! This is a...

We had dinner at the Empire Hotel some years ago and will never return. The woman behind the bar wanted us to leave a credit card at the bar while we had dinner but as no-one had been at the bar when we first walked in, and with the Tabaret only feet away, we were dubious about how safe it...

This is an old hotel that retains the look and feel of 1900. Wonderful wood and furnishings. On the downside, no elevator but an amazing staircase to haul stuff up. The room for three was rather small and quirky. Hard to find out how to turn on lights and such. Despite that, we had a nice sleep. Again, the history...
