While visiting family in Australia we stayed here for 1 night while visiting the blue mountains the staff cooked us a meal even though they had finished serving I loved the simple look of the place I felt comfortable its down to earth no frills the night time entertainment was fab the rooms were simple but comfortable we stayed at...

This is the worst hotel we have ever stayed in.Firstly when I made the booking he told me there was internet= no = gave us incorrect pass words and then blamed it on the network saying there was a problem in Katoomba= no = he made us out his guests to be fools to say the least!! Dirty dusty room...

I loved this place, it is unpretentious, atmospheric, interesting and fasinating. We didn't spend the night there but would next time. However we had a very good, freshly cooked meal which was well worth the wait as it is prepared when ordered. Do go and visit this grand old lady, she is on the other side of the tracks, and...

Staying here would have been a 'this will make for a good story' adventure- like walking into a very dilapidated version of the hotel in The Shining - if it weren't for the insects and hardened stains in the bedding - we aren't fussy and only paid $100 so were expecting basic... but when you have to use a towel/parka/backpack...

The whole place has not seen a renovation since 1930. Talk about very basic rooms table and beds and not much else. If you like to wait for 5 minutes for the water to warm to a luke warm shower at best in a bath that has rust running through the middle of it. Could not wait to leave this...

We called in for a drink on a Saturday afternoon. A nice fire was roaring, the beer was cold and the man behind the bar was friendly and welcoming. The place is old, but has everything you need for an afternoon drink.

A random, drunken last minute stay with friends. The staff were great and very accomadating, it was so convenient. Downsides: No Tea & coffee, TV, or toiletries. The room did come with a old band aid on the floor and an awful smell. The shocking smell coming up through the drains so we couldn't bathe. Hopefully a renovation happens soon

Unless you can sleep through the noise of the trucks roaring up and down the main road all night do not book this hotel. Noise is horrendous. Rooms are outdated and old and they don't have the basics such as hair dryers tvs or wardrobes or even shampoo. The heater in the room had little effect. Gotta feel sorry for...

Called into the Gearin at Katoomba. Probably the roughest looking pub ever, however, go into the dining room (very rough looking) and be amazed at the quality of the $10 specials. Why go to a rough looking hotel? We had a farm at Portland (other side of Lithgow) and always stopped at the Gearin for a quick meal. It's been...

Paid $110 for an ensuite, no heater, no TV, no Tea/Coffee, one pillow each, the twizzler rod on both sets of venetians was made out of 3 broken pool cues taped together with an extra bit of folded up cardboard to make them just that little bit longer - what were they thinking? We will never stay here again, it...
