Arrived here last minute for a three night stay to explore the blue mountains. Right in the centre of Katoomba, near the station, restaurants bars and shops. The hostel has a real 1970s nostalgic feel but I loved it. Totally different and far removed from the stinking dirty hostels in Sydney. Rooms were cosy, beds were comfortable. Wifi was good....

Positioned in the centre of Katoomba this budget accommodation has a lot going for it; friendly staff, clean rooms and spacious dining area and lounge. Slightly controlling with alcohol regulation, no consuming after 7.0pm, but this could be standard. We were in the private rooms, not the dorm, and the rooms were very tidy, sink but shared bathroom. I can't...

We were travelling with a campervan and were allowed to sleep at the parking for a pretty good price, while using all the facilities. It's an old hotel, with a lot of dark colours and the typical smell of wood and carpets, which I loved. Cook in the fully equipped kitchen, eat in the cosy diningroom, relax in the lounge...

Good reception; but the only option available seems to be mixed rooms not matter how early you book. Bathrooms are not on every floor, and toilets have no washbasin. Very handy to the local shopping area, bus stops and the railway station to Sydney.

First things first: it's a heritage property, so the owners can't really change anything. This means some things are a little bit strange. The toilets are ok, but you need to bring your own soap and wash your hands in one of the shower rooms. Understandable if they cant attach a soap dispenser, though it's possible to give us soap...

Stayed here from 25th Aug for 2 nights. Good points are very comfy bed, Dean in the bar was friendly, funny and very helpful. Dinner on final night was good and the two staff on duty were very nice. Views when the rain stopped were amazing and its in a good location just a few minutes walk from the town....

The place is falling to peices. Cold rooms, completely inadequate kitchen facilities and weirdos that seem to live there all the time. To top it off, they'll charge whatever they feel like for rooms and don't stick to any advertised price. There are cheaper and much nicer hostels in Katoomba.

Did not realise it was a Back Packers Hostel. Room was cold, no rug or mat on wooden floor boards. No TV in room. When we were being shown around, I tripped & fell on the small step up towards the bathroom/toilet area. Landed face first, hurt my wrist & knee. Was offered a band aid incase I was bleeding....

I don't writer reviews often. However my experience deems this a worthy post so that many of you out there can use your hard earned cash at a better lodge. All I have to say is that they have no idea what customer service is. I waited in reception for 20 minutes before the receptionist came to take my booking....
