OMG what an amazing first night here. Lovely comfortable cottage beautifully located on the beach edge and tonight we went to the beach about 8.15 and just waited...yes we could hear the penguins talking with each other then there they were toddling along the rocks towards our cottage up on the bank. We shone our tourch on them briefly and... More

I booked and stayed recently at Anchlia Cottages with a friend from overseas. The cottages are in an excellent spot right on the waterfront so that the penguins come into the garden at night .The accommodation was very clean thoughtfully furnished and equipped .The beds are very comfortable and good quality . The owner was helpful and informative and we... More

We first stayed here in Dec 2014, squiring our 2 teenage grandchildren on a pretty full - on hire car trip around Tassie, visiting old favourite places. And Bicheno was on that list. This time, we had my wife's step-mum with us, on a similar tour. We needed the house (as distinct from the 2 charming and adjoining 'cottages') as... More

We looked up accommodation on-line in Bicheno and this property was recommended so rang the number and booked 2 nights. When we arrived we found it almost right on the beach and it was a wonderful double storey house with all of the mod-cons and amenities. One of the features was the massive TV in the open plan living/dining/kitchen area.That... More

Wonderful location and cozy bedding. Very comfortable bed. Close to attraction "Blowhole" although cannot find penguins in backyard garden but know there are some if you able to pay entry fee at Bicheno Penguin Tours. Anchlia Waterfront Cottage, with wonderful gardening. Nice kitchen ware. Love it most !

A great base for visiting Wineglass bay and Freycinet national park. Beautifully situated by the sea. Well equipped but lacking some lightbulbs and frying pans. Laundry facilities welcome. Comfy bed and roomy shower. I wish these places would leave some basic cooking ingredients like oil, salt, pepper and even some dried herbs.

We booked the 'beach break cottage' before I read the reviews so I was a bit worried. I needn't have been. Obviously the previous reviewers of this cottage were very hard to please. Yes, you do have a bit of a walk to the beach and yes it is 2km out of town but the silence and the views are... More

We have stayed here twice and both times it has been excellent. The self contained apartments are right on the waterfront with the back yard running down to the beach. Very comfortable, homely and spacious. If you are travelling around Tassie it is a great place to spend a few days and catch up on washing and cook a few... More

Stayed at Cod Rock - clean, comfortable and right on beach at the end of a cul-de-sac. Comfortable walk to the centre of town. Would have marked it a "5' but had one small issue which the owner was very apologetic about, but expected when house has been used a lot. Couple of resident fairy penguins was the cherry on... Stayed in the Executive House and we were very impressed. Sometimes booking places with water views means you have to stand on a ladder in the corner of the bathroom to appreciate the "view" but this really has lovely water views from downstairs and upstairs. The upstairs bedroom is huge with amazing views to wake up to. House is modern... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Two fully self-contained apartments, Cod Rock Terrace - 2 story, 3 bedrooms sleeps up to 5 and Penguin Nook - 1 bedroom (queen and a single). Right on the waterfront on Cod Rock Point in the East Coast township of Bicheno. Penguins frequent the grounds around the apartments most of the year, and we front onto a 3 klm foreshore walk that goes around town to our blowhole. Both apartments have views over Waub's Bay and Cod Rock Terrace and views overlooking Diamond Island. Set in landscaped gardens with native gums that attract many bird species. All only 500 m or so from local shops and restaurants and only one half hour drive from the world-renowned Freycinet National Park/Wineglass Bay. A great place for at least a two night stopover. ... more   less
