This is a good enough hostel if visiting the pretty village of Port Fairy on a travellers budget. My wife and I stayed in a twin room due to a lack of availability in the doubles. Our room was in the 'loft' - in the top of a former barn/stables type building. Room was clean and beds comfortable enough, however...

It isn't what you expect from a YHA. The place was empty when we arrived (no guests or staff) which was odd. The dorm room was cosy and small - luckily my friend and I had the room to ourselves, otherwise it would have been difficult to move! The other strange thing was that our room had an open ceiling...

Due to bad weather we decided to spend one night in Port Fairy. A decision we didn't regret. The hostel was a nice place, staff was very friendly. It was very quiet in winter and we had the dorm room for us. We also got extra blankets for the cold.

Despite deliberately booking & paying online with ample notice with arrival time of 10pm. I then was left to knock on lounge window & despite a room full of people, I was ignored. I then was unable to be let through the front door & was told through the lounge window. That they knew I was coming, but that I...

If you like ultra modern, then this is not the place for you! However, if you like somewhere with a good bit of history then this is a great place to stay! Yes the décor is a bit dated, however, the rooms are quirky, theres a lovely small garden area and a BBQ, the shared spaces are clean and tidy...

This hostel is located in an older building and so it has charm. There is a nice cozy sitting area and the common areas are quite attractive and charming and it has a very quiet feel to it. There were not many people staying here during my short overnight stay so getting into washroom and showers was no problem. On...

Stayed at this hostel for one night only - thankfully. As soon as I walked through the door the place was very depressing. This YHA clearly believes that their word "youth" doesn't apply to him. The hostel was set out as an old persons home. The netted curtains and uncomfortable furniture really did not make you feel at home. The...

I've stayed in this hostel a few times on my way from Adelaide to Melbourne. It's out of the way, but it's worth it. The kitchen is really well-organized with everything you could need. Sometimes there are home grown potatoes or mint etc for your use. There is also a chest freezer for use (as week as 2 fridges).. The...

Lovely friendly service (liked arriving earlier than reception open, picked up phone on desk and spoke to owner, collected my key and sheets and set up in my room) very friendly when i returned later to confirm my check in. Lounge is lovely and warm with the gas fire and large tv (pay TV also so could watch plenty of...

This hostel has to be one of my favourites so far. It feels very homely and everything is very tidy, well equipped and ready for your convenience. The manager/ owner is incredibly friendly, helpful and full of useful advice about the local area and what you want to do during your stay or your onward travel. The only downside was...

“I had no problem with the place. Although the people in the room next door were a bit noisy but otherwise it was fine. It has a garden setting to sit and relax. Great area for cooking meals and an area to watch TV with fellow travelers. Eating places are within walking distance as is the Moyne RIver Pt Fairy Wharf and Griffith Island where mutton birds can be seen at seasonal times.”
