Coco Loco is a surf and yoga eco resort right on the ocean in Northern Nicaragua. There’s a few little towns around but, but all you need is right there. There’s a beach right out front where you can surf and another one just like five minutes walk. You can get them to drive you to surf a heavier wave called the boom or take a boat trip to a nearby island with three left reef breaks. I came to Coco Loco to meet up with my fiends who had been there before and loved it also another friend of mine had been to there twice and loved it. The stand out thing for me was how the owner who was there at the time was so accommodating and nice. It was worth just for that. The thing I liked the most about staying at Coco Loco was how I just felt so included and felt like part of the family! The other really special thing though was how everyone sits at the same table and you just end up making friends with everyone there. There were so many interesting people that I will never forget. I liked everyone in the place- from the type of guests it attracted to the the owner and his family to the staff. They have an incredible staff. You feel really safe and well looked after there and there’s tons of activities to keep you busy like yoga, hikes, stand up paddling and massage. The highlight for me was a surprise turtle release. It’s also a really good area for surfing too though because it has options for beginners and really legit waves if you’ve got some experience. One of the reasons I always wanted to go to Nicaragua was for the sunsets and there was a great one every night and they were all I had hoped they would be. There’s nothing bad to say about Coco Loco, but if you are going to Nicaragua make sure you get a good flight, there’s some lousy ones out there with lots of layovers try and find a quick more direct one, it’ll be well worth it.

My family consisting of seven adults and two very young grand children spent nine days vacationing at Coco Loco and loved it. Be for warned, this is not the Marriott. If you are put off by bugs, cold showers, no AC or in room Wifi then this is not your kind of resort. It is located on a dirt road in a remote location far away from bars, restaurants and civilization. Coco Loco is more like adult summer camp than a resort. The lack of modern conveniences is more than compensated for with a positively memorable experience. Service is laid back and informal. Staff are warm and engaging. Delicious communal meals (including "first" and "second" breakfast) allow guests to visit and develop wonderful friendships while sitting around the long table in the dining area. Each day begins with "first" breakfast sunrise surfing with waives for all skill levels, then second breakfast. The water is 80 degrees plus so a pleasure to be in any time day or night. Mid day is for Yoga sessions, fun excursions or relaxing in any number of quiet areas near the pool, in the shade at the beach, or in a hammock on your cabana's porch. Be sure and do Chocolate making. That was a highlight for us. Paddle boarding and volcano hike were also nice if you want to stay active during the day. Each evening everyone returns to the beach for sunset surfing. This is just pure magic. I felt as if I was in a very special community surrounded by family and new friends taking in the sunset and getting encouragement when I caught a waive (I suck at surfing). Dinner is always served later than posted and well worth the wait. Each evening guests look forward to a review, memorialized on a white board, of the following days activities including surf conditions Some nights were punctuated with open mic night, bond fires on the beach or a good card game. ...and so it goes, each day following a similar pattern to the previous day. Time of day and day of the week just seem to disappear replaced by the daily rhythm of surf, yoga, eat and relax. We ended our stay completely refreshed with new friendships and dreams of returning soon. My 28 year old son commented that this is one of his favorite vacation experiences so far. Thank you Coco Loco....pure magic.

First time at Coco Loco and it was incredible. Was dreaming to visit this resort for a long time and it finally happened. Words cannot describe the experience. Amazing people, food, care. Ezekiel and Oscar are always there to help, advise or guide. Perfect location and so easy to connect with local people. Cannot wait to go back. Since my trip to Coco Loco I don’t think I’ll be visiting any other resorts from now on :) I felt like home. Thank you!

Last year my friend Lisa and I discovered Coco Loco and vowed we would return. This year we brought along two friends and had a whole new experience. There is something truly special about this place. We met two other groups and together formed one cohesive group for the week. Our every need was catered to by Ezekiel, Oscar, Tomas, Melaina, and everyone else. Between daily yoga, surfing highs, a kayak trip, an epic volcano adventure, Jessica's massages, the incredible food, hammock/reading time, and a sunset to die for every night, I can't ask for anything more from a vacation. I will definitely return!

I travelled solo for a little me time to Coco Loco in Feb 2019. I found this place by chance and boy am I glad I did. I read about Coco Loco and their Waves of Hope non-profit organization before I booked it and immediately thought "I need to go there". How amazing is it that I can go somewhere and enjoy a vacation at the same time supporting a business that gives back to the community. It is so easy to go somewhere like Nicaragua and start a business and profit, but Coco Loco is different, they care about the community, the country, the people, and you can tell because the local community seem so happy. I honestly was blessed to have the opportunity to experience this and I will definitely be going back in a heartbeat. With regards to the accommodations, I mean everything was perfect. It is an eco resort on the beach. Bugs? Who cares? Too hot? Well... No cold water? Who cares. Know what you are booking. The staff and the managers truly make you feel like family, and it is nice to be somewhere where you can get to know the employees on a personal level. The food was fantastic, the surf was awesome with outstanding instructors (first time surfing and advanced a lot in one week!), and then there is Roxy. The best dog in the world!!!!! Special thank you to Earl for making this happen, the amazing staff and to Oscar and Esequiel for being so awesome!!!!
