If you don't mind driving a bit to reach Merida, this house is absolutely perfect! The rooms are lovely and comfortable. The hosts are very friendly and kind. And there's even a nice breakfast in the morning. It was the perfect place to stay while visiting Merida! I would highly recommend it!

Located just 6 miles from Merida in the small village of Don Alvaro this beautiful house is perfect for those who wish to see the real Spain. The rooms are comfortable and decorated in traditional style. Meals were prepared and served by our hosts Pepe & Carmen together with local wines which made a perfect & relaxing end to busy...

Booked this as a last minute stop to look at the Roman ruins in Merida. In a small rural village, we found this fabulous little hostel. The hosts Pepe and Carmen are very welcoming. Pepe put together a wonderful evening meal even though we hadn't prebooked. The house is full of interesting items with a useful library on the local...

The Don Alvaro de Luna is a lovely restored typically Spanish house. Pepe and Carmen are the perfect and helpful hosts. Breakfast and evening meals were delicious. Beds very comfortable. Local bar in the village if you fancy a walk. Ideal for visiting Merida, Caceres, Badajoz and Elvas in Portugal. Plenty of parking space. Would love to return. Besos x

Convenient location, at fifteen minutes from beautiful Merida and close to many other atractions. The rooms are comfortable, the food delicious, and the service perfect. We enjoy regional cuisine by Pepe. Excellent dishes, very well presented, and very good local wines selected also by Pepe. The owners Pepe and Carmen also gave us good tips on places to visit. Indeed...

Confirm the previous reviews: a very nice and comfortable place to stay near Merida. You do need a car to get there, and enjoy the location: the village of Don Alvaro is literally in the middle of nowhere. The host was very nice; breakfasts served on the patio (it was early October, so still warm enough) rich and plentiful. The...

We stayed here for three nights during the Carnival break and used it as a base while we visited Mérida--a ten minute drive away--and the small villages (Alanje, Hornachos, Palomas) lying south. The village is surrounded by beautiful green countryside dotted with olive and orange trees. The village itself has only 800 people but has cafés, a pharmacy, and two...

On our way back to Madrid we stayed one night (and were very sorry that only one) at the Casa Rural Don Alvaro de Luna in in Don Alvaro. The house is beautiful, everything feels a touch of an artist, every room is different but designed in a particular country style. The owners don't speak English but are warm and...

We stayed three nights at the Casa Rural Don Alvaro de Luna while visiting the beautiful towns of Merida, Caceres, and Trujillo nearby. The Casa is located a few kilometers outside of Merida in the very small pueblo of Don Alvaro. The setting is peaceful and quiet, the Casa is beautifully decorated, and the owners Jose and Carmen treated us...
