Spain's Paradors are a mixed bag, this is one of the better ones. Ideally located next to the old town of Cuenca in an old convent. Breakfast was rather good. Great for exploring the town. Eat in town but be sure to defile the old convent with a bit of romance for good measure. Rooms were spacious, a little worn...

The GOOD The hotel is in a great location for exploring old town Cuenca and although satnav struggles to find it, there are plenty of signs for the hotel as you drive in through the newer part of Cuenca. The hotel itself is in a beautiful old building which is well maintained. We paid extra to ensure a room with...

This parador is very grand on the inside. Walking along the tiled hallways, overlooking the central courtyard, one really gets a sense of the history of this monastery. There are many beautiful architectural details that are well preserved here. It's an easy walk across the dramatic bridge to see the hanging houses of Cuenca, and the narrow streets of the...

This was our second stay at this Parador, and we decided to splurge on ourselves and book a superior room for our two night stay. The room was the same size as the standard room we had on a previous visit, and there was no robes or slippers provided in the room (these are always provided in superior rooms). It...

We had booked a standard room at the Parador, however, on our arrival we were offered an upgrade to a Superior room with a view of the Hanging Houses for an additional €20 a night. Having seen the view as we arrived we decided to treat ourselves. Wow it was well worth it. What a view and what a room....

The Parador is set in a converted convent with views over Cuenca, the hotel is peaceful and serine, we found the staff to be polite and helpful, meals in the restaurant were good, the breakfast was extremely good, excellent and plentyful choice, although expensive if you do not have it included in your booking deal, try to book a room...

Nestled on a rock outcrop high above the city of Cuenca and connected to the old city by a narrow footbridge, this former monastery is a remarkable find. The rooms, though not large, are well appointed. We loved the bar at this Parador and ate our dinner from the bar menu. Crossing the narrow footbridge to the old city is...

Take a walk on the grounds of this beautiful parador, cross the bridge into the old town, enjoy the houses build into the high stone walls of this charming city, have coffee in some of the plaza and walk into the many museums or miniature street. The parador has a wonderful restaurant - food is local - not cheap but...

This parador de turismo is situated at the other side of the Huécar in front of the casas colgantes, so the views are brilliant. When coming by car, know that parking is limited (the parador has a garage with a daily cost of 15€ and indications from A40 are non existent. The people at the reception are extremely friendly. Rooms...

Cuenca, Spain appears to be off the radar for most Americans/Canadians preferring Toledo instead. Well, Cuenca is a gem of a town worthy of a day or weekend trip from Madrid or Valencia. The Parador is an excellent choice for those who prefer to stay in a historic setting with a true local feel. The location is excellent for hiking...
