Charming beachside resort in quite a remote location approx. 1 and ½ - 2 hours from Dar es Salaam on a good run (much longer if you get snarled up in the heavy traffic of Dar). Ideal for a few restful days after a safari. The beach is shared with a few local fishermen but there are no beach hawkers....

This was my second time in Ras Kutani, see my comments in 2012. I returned because we were so enthusiastic. The place is fantastic, as well: stretched along a beach of soft sand and, partly, along a beautiful lagoon. The bungalows are very nice, with a huge swahili bed, made of natural materials. However, my first stay was a little...

Thank you so much for your review of Ras Kutani and we are delighted you came back and stayed with us again! Sorry to hear our meals were not as you remembered but we pride ourselves on our menus and much improvement has been done since your last stay in 2012 but perhaps the changes were not to your taste...

We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning of our trip to recover from the long journey and it exceeded all expectations. We were lucky enough to have a suite which was absolutely beautiful….huge bed, open at the front and sides except for mozzie mesh, beautiful decor pitched just right with lovely furniture and colours but simple and in perfect...

We stayed with family of 6 after safari. Very good location, excellent service and nice suites/ hill houses Beautifull beach and very relaxed. Also nice bar and very good meals. This location all you want, perhaps too quiet for teenagers, but for us it was fantastic. Well done, especially Emille and his staff.

We loved Ras Kutani when we stayed in 2014 & so when planning another Tanzania trip we all wanted to return. If anything it is even better than 2 years ago! Sandwiched in the middle of our safari (we'd just done 8 nights in Selous & Ruaha) it was the perfect place to relax and catch up on our sleep...

Wow what an incredible wildlife time you had! Between the python and the dolphin - and just recently we even had a hippo on the beach - and this naturalness, pureness of nature is one of the reasons why Ras Kutani is so special and different from the usual run-of-the-mill beach properties. We are thrilled we managed to surpass your...

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Siwandu and 3 nights at Jongomero on safari, then relaxed for 3 nights on the beach at Ras Kutani. It was simply breathtaking, and we felt so pampered after being out in the bush! They upgraded us to a suite since it was our honeymoon, which was just spectacular. We took advantage...

.Tired and pretty travel weary (thanks Kenya airways!) we arrived late...but as soon as we tipped out of the Taxi onto white sand, smiling faces and candlelit pathways it was just calm, silken and perfect. The rooms are magnificent, rush matting on sand, huge beds the cushions, the hammocks the space... the tranquillity!!!! And then late as we were the magical...

We stayed here at the end of a 3 week African trip, which included the famous Rovos Rail train trip from Cape Town. From the very start we felt at home - it was time to get the shorts on and go barefoot! Our accommodation was stunning, about as close to nature as you can get without camping. The sounds...

Having stayed in Siwandu and Jongomero, the other two camps belonging to the Selous safari company, we had got used to an extremely high standard, but we were equally thrilled with Ras Kutani. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This beach destination in Africa offers the visitor that increasingly rare commodity - long stretches of pristine deserted beaches, warm blue seas and an opportunity to experience the peace and tranquility long since swamped by overcrowding in more publicized tropical resorts. The setting ensures that feeling of being on one's own tropical island. The lodge is flanked by a fresh water lagoon abutting onto a coastal forest, which spills to the edge of the unspoilt and undeveloped beach. Accommodation is in nine spacious, charming cottages constructed of natural, local materials that harmonise perfectly with the wonderful surroundings. On top of the hill we have also four suites and a family house all with stunning views. ... more   less
