This Hotel exceeded our expectations by a long shot. Last year, my wife and I stayed at the Ecohabs in the Tayrona Park and wanted to return this year but there was no vacancy. We asked people who had been in the area and one friend recommended Merecumbe (he had just walked by it, had not stayed in it)…..anyway, we... More

This place is truly special. My husband and I traveled all over Colombia for 3 weeks and this was our favorite place by far. It is beautiful, they serve the best food in Colombia, you basically get to sleep in luxury in the rainforest, and we haven't stopped talking about how completely charmed we are by the family that runs... While the setting is pretty, there are two huge drawbacks. First, there is absolutely nothing to do - the ocean is far too rough to swim, there is no pool (or hot water), no bicycles or excursions. Only a deck of cards and old board games. Not for $300+ aa night! Second, the place is run by a family completely... More

A truly BEAUTIFUL, very special place, lovingly created and cared for personally by the family who own and run it. most things are hand made by staff employed by the family, everything is in as new condition. Beautiful gardens, truly lovely, exotic location. The food is AMAZING, made from fresh ingredients on the spot, the chef is fantastic, nothing is... More

We stayed at the Merecumbe for 2 nights initially, and decided to change our return flight in order to stay an extra day at this place. It's such an amazing resort, with excellent food (breakfast, lunch and dinner included). The cabañas are very private but great quality. The owner, the rest of their family and the employees are great people... More

I’ve just returned from a perfect winter retreat at Merecumbe Hotel, one of the nicest places I’ve ever visited. (I’ve traveled a lot.) The family that owns and runs it is delightful, the independent lodgings inviting, the food delicious and varied, the wines tasty, and the overall mood extremely conducive to romance, rest, and roaming Colombia’s Magdalena coastal area. (Note:... More

A great stay! All houses are beautifully designed, have lots of privacy and are located just a few metres from the beach. Beds and hammocs are already set up for us - in the shade or sun. Great location with lots of nature and wildlife! Best of all: three meals are included which can compete with the best restaurants. Great... More

Merecumbe is such a treat. The service is very personal, provided by the owners and their children. The furniture are all designed by the husband and the bungalows are really nice, with outdoor bathrooms. Please do not miss out on the massage! Unfortunately, we only stayed for one night, I would have wanted to taste everything on the menue!

We recently stayed at Merecumbe for our 10 year wedding anniversary and we couldn't be more pleased. Everything was done well from the relaxing rooms to the delicious cuisine and the warm welcome from the hosts. Run by a delightful family, the owners Edgar and Andrea greeted us warmly and made sure every need was attended to. Their daughter Camila,... More
