We stayed two nights in Casa Perico because all the other hostels had no space in their dorms. The hostel is very isolated from everything. If you want to go to the city or somewhere else you have to pay 25 Q for the watertaxi. The food isn't that good and too expensive. But their don't exist any other options... More

this place has the worst custumer service in all Guatemala, the owner is a really rude person , he doesn´t like to receive people, he doesn´t care about how he and another old men who lives or work there (german or switzerland too) treats guest. There´s no HOT WATER but they tells that just that day there´s no hot water... More

We definitely do not recommend this place! The rooms are open, so that all kind of insects and other unwanted guests can come in the room. Further the rooms are extremely dirty (eg. Many Dead insects on the bed) and the bathroom was that dirty that we could not even take a shower. You can only achieve the hostel by... More

After a long travel from Lanquin, we decided to stay at Hotel Casa Perico because the pictures looked great and it seemed reasonably priced. We waited for the boat to take us over and the ride was so beautiful, we went straight over the lake and then down a more secluded swampy area to Casa Perico. Our first impressions were... More

We had an ok stay here, nothing special. From the reviews, we were led to believe that the place would be more beautiful than it was, and that we would be able to do some walks around the jungle, however this is not really the case. The wifi was poor, and even in the bar area worked very sporadically. We... More

This place is located in the department of Izabal in the place called Rio Dulce, it is far to get there from the capital, but let me tell you it is worth the trip, if you love nature this is the place, the hotel is built in the middle of mangroves and the river, last month we were visiting there... We took a water taxi to Casa Perico. The hostel is lodging on the water, with wooden walk ways branching out. The hosts were kind, and served up delicious food. The main area was super cozy with wifi, a few tables, and a couple hammocks. We walked on a walkway over the water to get to our room. Part of... More

Pretty place on a tributary to the Rio Dulce. They have simple accommodation and good food. Romantic in the evenings. They come and pick you up for very little anywhere in the vicinity of Fronteras. The Swiss hosts are sometime are a bit "reserved" but just when you think they are unfriendly they warm up.

The hostel is located only 5 minutes by boat from the town of Rio Dulce: one return trip is for free. When I stayed there it was really quiet; approx. 6 guests at the entire place. I found this very relaxing though. You are in the middle of the jungle yet only 1 minute away from the big lake where... More
