This property advertises itself as a cutting edge ecolodge. It many easy it achieves that goal, but as a luxury property (based on the costs) it has some shortcomings. Our room was among the closest to the main building (which houses the restaurant); it required an uphill walk of 65 steps. We had two queen beds and lots of space....

Dear Steve, thanks for taking the time to send in your feedback. We appreciate all opportunities to improve and make sure that we exceed our guest's expectations. Thanks for the praise on the great location, the spacious room, outdoor shower and the "fancy" food. We are sorry that we could not fulfill your expectations of having air conditioning available to...

We were met at the little airstrip at Puerto Jimenez with cool coconut water, just the thing after a hot journey. Frank, our driver, gave us a tour of the little town as we drove through it and out onto the dirt road. On the 40 minute journey we saw a sleeping screech owl, two scarlet macaws and a sloth,...

Our third place on our CR trip. We were coming from Tortuguera so took two short flights. We were greeted at the airport by Arlyn a charming young lady who gave us cookies and coconut water before jumping into the car for a 40 minute drive. We were greeted with cold towels and drinks by Alex. He showed us around...

This is truly a special place. Outstanding views. Great guides and great piece of property. Great bungalows. The pool was wonderful. Food was excellent. So much wildlife to see everywhere. Birds and monkeys everywhere!! Limited number of rooms so fairly intimate number of people around. Can't say enough great things!

My husband and I traveled here with a National Geographic adventure tour, not knowing what to expect, but assuming that NatGeo would select something special. And they did! As soon as you step out of the vehicle, the staff is there to greet you with cool towels and drinks, and when we walked into our personal hut, we were overwhelmed...

We spent five nights at Lapa Rios and thoroughly enjoyed it. A beautiful, understated lodge in a perfect location with wonderful views, access to an often deserted beach, surrounded by a plethora of exotic wildlife and very comfortable rooms, Lapa Rios itself was all we hoped for. We particularly liked the fact that many excursions were included in the price...

This was definitely the most amazing experience I've had while travelling. From the airport my family and I were greeted with coconuts and a mini tour of the town! The staff was extremely knowledgeable and ready to assist us with any of our needs. We spent a lot of time talking to Arbid! The tours were also incredible. There wasn't...

Wow! What a privilege to stay at this wonderful place. We will never forget the sounds of the jungle. No alarm clock needed as the Howler Monkeys will waken you! You are totally immersed in the surroundings feeling at one with the wildlife. Very comfortable bungalows totally private (we were in no.11). Just loved sitting on the decking listening to...

It is not easy to leave it. Guides are great, too. Food is prepared perfectly. Howler monkeys everywhere. I would strongly recommend to avoid the rooms 250 steps below the main Lodge (e.g. # 15,16 and 17). Beaches are great but not perfect, rough sea much of the time; great for surfing. Staff very accommodating. Visit the incredible waterfall pictured...
