With no expectation to begin with, everything in Iron Gate Hotel was a surprise. We booked a Junior Suite at a very reasonable cost. Since every room is different in the hotel, you just won't know what you will get. We were lucky to have a nice large room with dark woon furniture (our favourite). The room is clean and...

First of all the good thing: The hotel is right in the center of Prague, walking distance to all the main attractions. It is clean and the rooms are tastefully renovated. Please be sure that you get a good deal on the internet. We paid 90 Euro a night in a suite including breakfast and all taxes. The "normal price"...

We recently stayed 3 nights at The Iron Gate at the recommendation of a friend and we were delighted we did. The staff were super friendly and super effecient and made you feel you were one of the family without being intrusive. The Iron Gate, situated in the Old Town, was only a few minutes from most of the main...

We were very pleasantly surprised to find our hotel tucked away just behind the old town square. It was a quiet historic hotel, renovated to a modern standard. Our room was large with comfy bed and good quality sheets, the bathroom was modern with Etro products, and it had tea/coffee making facilities. We enjoyed our breakfast in the sun in...

We recently stayed at the Iron Gate hotel, which is located centrally in the Old Town. The rooms were spacious, had beautiful frescoes painted on the ceilings (circa 16th century) and the staff were most helpful and pleasant. The room prices were very reasonable and the hotel was clean and tidy. I'd be happy to return. As for taxis in...

I brought my wife here for here birthday and proposed to her in the Old Town Square. This hotel was a great find. Cheap enough to be able to afford 3 mights in a royal suite (about 100 UK per night through a deal I found). It had two bathrooms in it!! Huge room. We only ate breakfast here, which...

This hotel was perfectly located in the old town area of Prague, directly off Old Town square. Could walk to anyplace from this spot. Staff were all exceptionally pleasant, very helpful with restaurant suggestions, spoke very good English. Room was multilevel so would not be good with small children. Two baths, very convenient for getting ready in the morning when...

This was the last country we visited on our trip to Europe. It was an outstanding place to end our vacation. The hotel itself is located right in old town which made it an adventure to find as my wife and I looked like real tourists pulling our bags around and being completely lost. Once we got there the Manager...

This is a fabulous hotel. We had a junior suite facing the street. The room was very large with dressers to divide the room from the sleeping area. The paintings on the ceiling are incredible to look at and so unique. It is a building dating back from the 14th Century with modern amenities. The location was fantastic right around...

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
