Everyone seems to love this place but it could be so much better with a little fine tuning and attention to detail. I seem to be going against the grain but I would like to give some constructive criticism based on our stay. The positives as mentioned by most people, the location couldn't be better, our rooms were large and...

HiddenPlacesHotels, General Manager at Domus Balthasar Design Hotel, responded to this review Thank you for the outstanding effort to bring a comprehensive review, criticism kept constructive and mentioning the positives last but not least. And frankly, we´never encountered guest who wanted to wash the dishes... we do it. Our kitchenettes are equipped to heat baby food or similar, not for...

Placed in the heart of Prague, this boutique hotel has a great service and has an excellent location. Very good breakfast served in the cafe next door. It offers transfers in/out by pre booking. Warning, the attic room is not suitable for 1.75m+ people because of its low ceiling.

Thank you for the nice review. We hope the low ceiling wasn't too much of a trouble for you. At the same time, we believe that the photos and descriptions provided on our website prevent the taller guests from booking our attic room and hopefully this comment will help too. Feel welcome to stay with us again and perhaps try...

We loved our stay at Domus Balthasar. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and the staff helped us book concert tickets and gave us advice on how to use the underground when we need to get across the city to the bus station. Our room was very spacious, with a desk and a couch in addition to a bed, and...

The Hotel is very nice and has the best location! A few blocks from the Metro station that comes from the airport. A few blocks from the tram that gets you to the castle. A few steps from Charles Bridge! Amazing! Very friendly and helpful staff. No lift so get ready for some exercise but it is worth it. The...

We stayed in the Domus Balthasar Hotel with our 3.5 months baby. Traveling with a little one is quite a challenge but this hotel was excellent. Very friendly and helpful staff did their best for us to feel comfortable at all times. Ordering a taxi, courtesy check out, helping with the luggage, recommendation of great family friendly restaurant was some...

This hotel is definitely to be recommended. It has really nice and clean rooms. Its location is perfect! Just a few steps to Charles Bridge and only short walks to the places of interest. The staff is very friendly and has good suggestions for restaurants and activities.

Excellent small hotel just a few yards from Charles Bridge. Friendly staff, comfortable room. Rooms are arranged around a central stairwell. There is no lift so if you happen to be in the attic (4th floor, 75 steps), make sure you spend time in the gym before you go. However, the good side is that the attic rooms are beamed...

Thanks for the recommendation, it means much to us. The disposition of the preserved historical house unfortunately cannot meet needs of people unable to conquer the stairs, however, we communicate the fact thoroughly and do our best to trade the flaw for a unique atmospere.. and frankly.. spending time in the gym is healthy anyway :) Come again!

My husband and I had such a great stay in this hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff is friendly and helpful. Thank you very much, we really appreciate the recommendation. The wifi in the ancient house with wide walls is always tricky. But we are happy to announce we have once again upgraded and strengthened the system. And believe it is able to meet current needs. Come soon again to check :)

It is in a great location with large expansive rooms. It is an older property but the charm and character far outweigh any lack of contemporary style. Thanks for the lovely words! Please feel welcome to move in anytime! Hope you did not suffer form the noise too much - surpricingly it is not really often, plus the higher rooms or the ones round the corner from the main street are even more quiet.

Staying in Mala Strana (Little Quarter)

Neighbourhood Profile
Mala Strana (Little Quarter)
Malá Strana is one of the oldest and the most beautiful neighbourhoods in the city. Nestled underneath Prague Castle it was once a part of the Kings route taken by future kings on their way to coronation - originating in the Old Town, crossing Charles Bridge and leading to Saint Vitus Cathedral. Cobblestone streets are lined with picturesque medieval houses, remarkable palaces, churches, kitsch shops and restaurants. Do not hesitate to turn a corner into any narrow street. You will suddenly find yourself in a calm and charming neighbourhood full of hidden gardens, parks with peacocks, fruit trees and ponds. As the neighbourhood is a home to Czech Parliament and many ministries, you can also run into well-dressed officials. If you are thirsty or hungry, it is the right place to be. Restaurants offer delicious traditional food and of course, the best Czech beers.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Design hotel Domus Balthasar is a baroque building with medieval foundation and 21st century design, situated on the Royal Route, in the heart of the oldest and most romantic part of Prague - Lesser Quarter (Mala Strana), few steps from Charles Bridge, close to Old Town and Prague Castle. Domus Balthasar is nearly of all most popular sights within easy reach on foot or by tram. Although is situated in the centre, also in a neighborbood of nicest parks. Business centers easily accessible. It is the ideal place for a holiday as well as for an enjoyable business trip. The building's history goes back to the 14th century, though the fittings are either modern or timeless. We do our best to respect history while at the same time respecting the current needs and tastes of our guests. Our interiors are made warm by wooden, atypical furniture with clean lines in dark colours which combines well with the light, creamy tones of the carpets, curtains and other decorations. Hotel has 8 rooms including 2 Double attic rooms, 3 generously spacious deluxe double rooms, 2 Suites with kitchenette and 1 Royal. Please notice our historic house uniquely located within an UNESCO listed World Heritage Site does not have an elevator. Due to a lower ceiling Attic double rooms are not recommended for people taller than 1,80 m/6 feet. ... more   less
