I keep reminding myself that it was a pensione and not a hotel. The office doesn't open until 9 a.m. and there is absolutely no checkin until after 2 pm so don't get there early. The staff is friendly. The location is quite convenient to the central tourist areas. Right out the front door is a restaurant and the daily...

My friend booked this hotel for us thru a discount accommodation service without consulting the "traveller's friend": TRIPADVISOR. By the time I read the reviews here, it was too late. Luckily, we were staying over in Prague only one night on our way to some place else but.... 1. The reception was in a tiny storefront below the 'hotel' in...

It is an old place not worth the money. There is a very small reception area that is shared by other pensions. To get to our room you go thru a large locked wooden gate located outside a pizza parlor up two flights of stairs to another locked iron gate, then up two more flights of stairs. No elevator. Stairs...

Just returned from a 4 night, January break, in Prague. Not knowing much about the cost and quality of the "cheaper" hotels around the Old Town Suare, we decided to book the Avalon Tara through "prague holidays", bad mistake. On arrival we found the reception just a "hole in the wall", beneath the accommodation rooms. The allocated room was up...

Staying in Stare Mesto (Old Town)

Neighbourhood Profile
Stare Mesto (Old Town)
One of the oldest neighbourhoods in town represents the medieval heart of Prague. It’s no surprise it is bustling with tourists every time of day. Križovnický square, overlooking Charles Bridge with Prague Castle in the background, is probably the most beautiful square in the city. Its unique historical atmosphere of gothic houses and churches, cobblestone streets and squares, and stone towers blend together with the modern era. A vast array of bars, restaurants, dance clubs, international brand shops, galleries and hotels bring life to the old city. With its charming and picturesque cobblestone streets, the nightlife and parties will surely be unforgettable.
