We had a long weekend here in Poland and took the opportunity to travel to Sopot. The Hotel is located at a superb location which was excellent for us travelling with a dog.

We arrived late at night and were happy, that they have a 24/7 reception. Even the parking lots were limited, I could park my car in the garage. One disadvantage was, that our car is so terrible big, that I only could get out of the underground garage by driving out backwards but I wouldn't blame the Hotel for that, it is just, with long large cars, it is tricky.

The rooms were nice and the beds very comfy. They were actually so comfy, that it was difficult to get out of them. Once in, you are trapped ;)

The bathroom was average with a sink, toilet and a shower. My daughter had her own room and hers looked similar like ours. Not sure if this is something new but if you wanted the room to be cleaned you had to ask for. It was no problem for us, we only stayed for 4 days.

We booked including breakfast and it was not a big buffet compared with other Hotels but a good one with all kinds of cold and warm meals and drinks and it was very nice. An extra point for us was, that we could enjoy our breakfast outside and could take our dog with us.

The Hotel is close to the main street, which is going along the coast from Gdansk, Sopot, Gdynia up to Hel and therefore very convenient. I wouldn't call it myself the most quiet area due to the Street but it is still very calm.

What we didn't expect was the location itself. It is a 5 minutes walk to the beach and what was a fantastic positive experience. You walk 100 meters and end up in the middle of a beautiful park/woods, where you have stairs to get down to the beach. The park/woods contained bicycle track, inline-skating track and of course one for pedestrians.
The beach was not overcrowded and had a small Restaurant, where you could buy drinks and food, some installed umbrellas and as many people might not know, a dream of a beach. A dream, because it is wide, fine sand and clean.
Maybe the best feature was, that only 2 km. away is the "fun-mile" of Sopot, with Restaurants, some shops and entertainment. Because it is not far away, we walked every evening to the square, where the Marina lays and searched for a nice Restaurant.

In a nutshell. It was worth the trip, worth the money, good for a family and we enjoyed every minute spending there.
I don't think, you will regret it!

I wholeheartedly recommend spending your free time at the Aqua Sopot Hotel. From the very entrance you can feel the friendly atmosphere here thanks to the smiling and extremely helpful reception ladies. Moreover, the entire staff is at the highest level. The rooms are clean and tidy. The breakfasts are really varied, it is impossible to try everything. Everything tasty and fresh. The advantage of the hotel is undoubtedly its location close to the sea, although for elderly people the stairs leading to the sea may prove to be an insurmountable obstacle. Another advantage is the distance to Gdynia Orłowo and Sopot Mole, both of which can be reached on foot or using the hotel's bicycle rental. We will definitely return to this place soon to enjoy its charms again.

A lovely hotel next to the Aqua Park and beautiful forest. Only 300 metres from the beach and within waking distance to the main town. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Rooms spacious and the buffet breakfast plentiful. I would not hesitate to stay here again should I ever revisit the area.

A comfortable stay during Christmas :) Very nice reception and restaurant staff. The ladies were communicative, cordial and smiling - even though they spent the entire holidays at work :) Good food. The rooms are neat. Close to the sea. Just a short walk through charming forest paths is enough. A hotel without pomp and great WOOW, but perfect for a good rest.

I've now been to the Hotel Villa Aqua three times. The second and third times were in October 2007 and April 2008. What rothleytom says about air conditioning is true. I'd never noticed. Normally I go off season when its cold and air conditioning is not needed; I prefer to sleep with the windows open. Depending on what end of the hotel you are in you can about hear the trains passing, I like the sound of trains, water and sea at night. The first time I went there the outside areas of the Aqua Park were not finished so were not being used. My last trip was in April 2008 and it was still too cold for outdoor late night events. It might well be different in summer.

At weekends you do get groups of young people walking home from the beach front bars back to the Kamienny Potok area. They are boisterous, lively but not shouting obscene things in Polish (unlike UK young people who shout obscene things in English) – Although if you don’t know obscene words in Polish you would never know - trust me I know - they are a bit drunk but still very polite.

I live in the centre of a city and because of my work pattern often go to bed at 6.00am and am used to the noise of people and cars passing by, it might be different for you.

I'm still very impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel; the room staff do an excellent job and all the public areas are very clean. The staff turnover seems very low as many of the staff that were there in the opening month are still there 18 months later which must say something positive about the management. The pretty dark haired Polish breakfast waitress is no longer there but she has been replaced with a young man (very handsome says my female partner).

Distance to the town centre is a very subjective thing, my calculation is it is 700m from the bottom of ul. Monte Casino along the beach walkway to the hotel. I don’t find that a problem, when I am on holiday I’m walking all day so 700m is nothing.

rothleytom says that lunch and dinner are limited, I’ve never had either there, there are so many places on the beach walkway or in Sopot that I’ve never bothered. Breakfast is still very good with a huge selection.

The prices are almost up to UK prices, so quite expensive by Polish standards, it is really more of a Polish business type clientele that they attract. As a modern hotel it has wheelchair accessible from street level.

At the moment I’m planning to return in October 2008. It depends on what you want in a hotel. They can not compete historically or elegantly with the Grand Hotel, who had some really nasty guests, (1939, but not of their own freewill) but they are looking at a different market.

The Sheraton which opens soon might change things. When I go to a foreign country I don’t want to stay in a multi-national hotel chain. I don’t want a Sheraton, Hilton, Ibis or Holiday Inn so maybe the Hotel Villa Aqua is for you too.

This is a new hotel next to the Aqua Park in Sopot. No problems during the day but the night club at the Aqua Park will keep you awake until 3 or 4 in the morning. Part of the hotel is less than 40 metres from the club entrance and in summer they don't close the doors. The management do not warn you of this. Great if you want to go to the club but not for families. The hotel is clean but they should have installed air conditioning, especially if you want to cut out the noise. Restaurant good for breakfast but limited choice for lunch/dinner. Short walk to beach but a long way from centre of Sopot.

Rooms are like the IBIS hotels, but a bit bigger. Very clean room. Helpful reception staff. Restaurant very cheap price but like 5 star service and food incredibly good. Only strange thing is that you have 2 single duvets on double bed. bUt I guess it's different.Stayed here for 3 nights whilst visiting Sopot on my tour of a beautiful country with lovely people. Polish people are very nice people!!!

Our 2nd visit to Sopot to visit family and a holiday and we stayed at the Villa Aqua for the 2nd year. The hotel is very modern, clean and excellent facities, tv has BBC World News and CNN (for those not fluent in Polish). Located very close to the beautiful white sandy beach and right next door to the Aqua Park and Bowling. Excellent choice for families. The staff are extremely helpful and speak perfect English - I tried to hire one of their 'in house' bicycles but unfortunately it had been brought back broken. The hotel receptionist phoned a local bicycle hire shop who promptly delivered a brand new bike complete with local cycle maps - they also picked it up at the end of the day when you bring it back to the hotel. The breakfast is amazing, a dazzling array of beautifully presented food with a huge choice. A smaller continental breakfast isn't on offer unfortunately, but I did notice that they now offer fresh coffee for breakfast and the rooms also now have tea and coffee facilties, possibly due to comments from reviews. The restaurant does serve food in the evenings, but a 'lighter' choice might be more suitable for weary travellers just looking for a bite to eat with a Zywiec (Polish beer)!. A wider range of guides to the local area (particularly Sopot) with free maps would be great. There is a short walk to the local train station (Sopot Kamieny Potok) but its a lovely walk into the town centre along the beach/cycle path approx 20 mins.

Me and my partner stayed at Best Western Villa Aqua for six nights (17th of Aug to 23rd of Aug). To be honest, the main reason for choosing Villa Aqua was bad planning. We decided upon Sopot so late before departure, that almost every hotel in town was fully booked. Normally, we would have chosen something in a “better” (i.e. more central) location and perhaps something a bit more expensive. However, the location of Villa Aqua should not be underestimated. We found several pros: close (5 min walk through charming forest) to a great part of the beach, close (3 min walk) to train station, I’m guessing more quiet than a location around Monte Cassino, cheaper because of non-central location etc. The hotel itself looks nice from the outside, and is ok, but perhaps a bit simple interior-wise. Corridors and rooms are in light greens and soft yellow-beige-brown. Restaurant/breakfast area has some pink-beige tones. In our room and I’m guessing, the rest, there are carpeted floors, which can seem a bit unpractical for a hotel by the sea, with sandy beaches.

Our check-in was rather quick since we already had filled out a form online (sent to us via e-mail a couple of days before arrival). The room was really small, but this is seldom a problem, since the aim of the trip isn’t sitting in the hotel room. We had not observed when booking that there was no A/C. And the first nights were quite warm, since the weather was far better than expected (which changed drastically in a couple of days, so the problem solved itself). But be warned, the fan that was provided is not enough when temperatures are over +25C. The room had an empty mini-bar, which I find is great. Even if you are staying in a hotel, you seldom want to buy overpriced items from mini-bars when you can get the same product yourself to a more reasonable price. Next door to Villa Aqua is a gas station with a small store that has candy, ice cream, beverages and so on. Perfect to create your own mini-bar! Our room (219) was on the top floor (of two) and had a balcony, which was nice.

We had three dinners in the hotel restaurant. The salads are great, chicken, strawberries and gorgonzola especially yummy, and the red meat was also good. And the buffet breakfast was one of the best ones we’ve had in Poland.

So far so good. But there was a major service issue. The second day we went into Gdansk (by train, cheap and quick; not even 1 euro round trip and the journey takes less than 15 minutes) and didn’t get back until evening. Before leaving, I had put one of the towels on the floor because we wanted a new one. But when we got back, the (dirty) towel had been picked up from the floor and put back on the towel hook! I immediately went down to the reception to complain about this, and also mention that the room had not been cleaned (beach sand on carpet, bed wasn’t made etc). The response I got was the oddest ever in a hotel: “In our hotel we don’t clean every day if you don’t order ‘room service’ for this”. The line was delivered with such a lack of enthusiasm. I was baffled! For starters, room service usually means something completely different in a hotel. Also, who hangs up a dirty towel from the floor? And why did someone go into our room if there wasn’t supposed to be any cleaning? I then asked what was the purpose of the “Please make up my room”-sign which they provided, but could not get a proper response to this. Since it was evening, we decided to ask the same thing the next morning, perhaps it was the night staff that were misinformed? But the next morning we got the same odd “service”. We then ordered “room service” for daily cleaning, for the rest of our stay. No one apologized for the towel incident. Nowhere in the booking procedure, online check-in form or upon check-in is there any information about these strange cleaning routines.

For me, this was a big turn off. Have you ever heard about this in a hotel? I also find it odd that this can happen under the Best Western-brand, one thing we said when booking whatever-hotel-was-left was “Well, how bad can it be? It’s at least Best Western”. Apparently I need to re-evaluate my opinion of the brand.

But, due to really good food and smart location, I still have to give 3/5. I would recommend this hotel to the less picky traveler.

Thank you very much for visiting BEST WESTERN Villa Aqua Hotel and taking your time to give your honest and very comprehensive feedback. We appreciate a lot all remarks given from our guests and we treat them as very valuable advice. According to our standards, rooms are cleaned every day and beddings are changed every three days or more (on the guest request). Housekeeping is not making up the room only when the ‘do not disturb tag’ is hanged on the door handle. We do apologize that the cleaning service was not carried out in the way it should have been. The information that has been given to you at the reception was also incorrect, which we are also very sorry for. The receptionist to whom you reported the complaint is our new employee and she lacks the experience. We have already filled gaps in her training. Please accept the heartfelt apologies from the hotel management. At the same time we greatly regret that this situation has not been reported to the management at the time of the incident. We would have had the opportunity to react immediately, as well as to compensate for the inconvenience. We would also like to thank you for revealing the assets of our property such as location, good breakfasts and cuisine in our restaurant. We do appreciate listing the amenities we offer that you found convenient. Just to clarify – the refrigerators are available in our LUX double rooms. We are very happy that you could benefit from it. We do hope that despite the incident with the cleaning service, in your memories will stay those positives that you mentioned and your overall impression after visiting Poland and Sopot will be good. If you ever decide to come back to Tri-city and would give as a second chance, we would feel more than happy. It would give as the opportunity to compensate you somehow the inconvenience you felt during this stay and show you the standard of the service that we normally offer. Thank you again for taking your time to write this review and for sharing your experience.
