I visited Kraków for a short break and stayed at the Hotel Matejko and I would recommend both. The hotel is in an excellent location for easy access to the old city - just a short walk along the square, cross the road and you...More

We had a short stay in krakow and the hotel was perfect for this purpose. Our room even had a sauna! A decent hotel close to the station and the old town. Perfect for the short visit. The breakfast was pleasant enough too.

Hi. The hotel is within easy walking distance from the town square, about 10 to 15 bminutes past the Barbican and along Florianska street. The hotel is located just on the other side of the main road which surrounds the old city and the "park" around the old walls known as the Planty. It is also very close to the new shopping Mall called "Galeria Krakow".
We have been to the Auschwitz/Birkenau site, To be honest, we were so upset by it that we only managed to do the morning visit around the old army baracks which was the original camp. It is a museum and memorial, but it is not a fun day out, so be prepared for the emotions that you will experience when you see the "exhibits" and realise just what happened there. You might find a trip to the Wieliczka salt mines much more rewarding and enjoyable.
