We had an overall very positive impression about Slovenia. The only major disappointment was our stay in Skipass Boutique Hotel in Kranjska Gora. 4* and 9+ rating at booking.com seemed promising. Unfortunately, we did not get the experience we had expected. To start from the positive. The room was clean and properly cleaned every day. The food in the restaurant seemed decent, with good selection of local wine. The lady from the reception was open and positive and helpful. Now, on less positive aspects. The room was nothing special, very modest for a 4* boutique hotel in our view. Two beds, a small sofa, a small coffee table. We had to take a plastic chair from the balcony to be arrange a sort of a proper sitting area. The hotel is a fair 10-15’ walk from the skiing area - keep it in mind as going with all the equipment on you does not make it a pleasant walk (skiing equipment storage near the slopes was not available and i had to leave my shoes on the snow on the first day after rent for half a day). It seemed like there was an issue with the ventilation in the restaurant, because the smell of fried food was all over the reception area and on the 1st floor where we stayed. The odor in the restaurant itself was even more intense with a sort of a smoke hanging in the air. Not nice. The reception in the hotel was poor. We were not greeted as we would normally expect in other 4* hotels. It was quick, not informative, not even friendly. The gentleman at the reception did not tell us anything about the hotel facilities e.g. ski storage room and sauna, did not offer any help with the luggage. It felt like his only worry was to tell us that we cannot use elevator after 10 pm when reception closes as well as we should use back door if we come after this time as the front door gets closed. During the rest of our stay we were only told by the hotel personnel and i believe the owner himself what we had been doing wrong, like coming at breakfast too late (10 a.m.) or going through the reception area in ski boots etc. We had to ask for the robes, we had to ask for the kettle and even tea bags (surprisingly, tea was not assumed in the rooms). The hot water was down once for a couple of hours in the evening because of some accident in the sauna. The next night, the short-circuit in our room left us with no electricity for an hour. The gentleman from reception and the owner were going back and forth and fixed it finally in an hour or so. I think getting apologies for the inconvenience of some sort would be a normal resolution for such a situation - unfortunately, we did not get any. The whole experience with Skipass Boutique Hotel was a chain of disappointments. Unfortunately, we reserved all nights upfront and changing the hotel was not an option. Being a frequent traveller I have certain expectations on the level of hospitality and service from a 4* and 9+ rating hotels. Obviously, Skipass Boutique Hotel did not comply.

Our family group stayed for five nights in three rooms at this 10-room hotel. It was central to the town, bright, airy, clean, modern. The staff couldn’t have been nicer - five family members run it. The in-hotel restaurant was just fantastic. Jan and Marco are the joint owners and their attention to detail and personal service means their restaurant has won numerous ‘Best in Slovenia’ awards. After a big dinner one night Jan produced his home-made Slovenian grappa and they sat with us to enjoy it. We loved every meal we had there and can’t recommend them highly enough.

Had a wonderful 4 day stay here. The rooms are very nice and clean but the thing that makes the hotel so special is the friendly and helpful staff. Within easy walking distance of town, shops, restaurants and ski lifts. Highly recommend staying here!

We had a 6 course dinner and enjoyed every bite if it. My favorite was the home-made cheese with pine seeds and olive oil. Since we just finished a big bike ride the staff accomodated our wish and made a big pasta course as well. The service was good, the staff was polite, but I missed ambient music. Highly recommended.
