Next to the hustle and bustle of a city intersection and urban part of Ljubljana, a hi-rise building was built in 1938. It offered shelter to many distinguished persons. A prestigious design with peripheral construction attracted the eye of tourists, especially those connoisseurs who noticed the work of architect Jože Šivec. With its tempting constructed ground floor and staircase, it ranks among the most beautiful examples of hi-rise buildings in the capital. The building has preserved its original charm and today hosts the Urban hotel Ljubljana. Just like our doors, our minds are also open. Ever since we thought of opening the hotel, it’s never just been about offering a bed for the night but more than that: providing a place where guests can have an enjoyable stay and feel the pulse of the city for a reasonable price. We try to offer prominent warmth and efficient service. Next to our guests, our team is the most important value of our hotel. The group of individuals who work at the Urban hotel provide exceptional welcoming and warmhearted service to you. We try to create a collaborative work place, where we treat each other with respect. So our whole team is a part of one big "family" and we would like you to feel as if you're part of our "family". We will try to make your holiday as enjoyable as possible. Situated only a few hundred meters away from the city center, the Urban hotel Ljubljana offers 36 thoughtfully appointed guest rooms that combine popular bourgeois style with modern facilities, reflecting global trends – a comfortable and relaxing stay for a memorable experience. Hotel Urban is located in the city center, from where you can access the most popular points that represents the essence of Ljubljana. Only 100 meters sets you apart from the world-famous Three Bridges, the old town with Plecnik marketplace, within reach are a number of luxurious galleries, vibrant bars, about which a lot of blogs are written, boutiques, vibrant bars and many hidden points that invite you to explore.

We booked the standard room which was located on 2/F. Surprisingly the room was spacious, more than enough space for our 2 suitcases so that one of them didn’t need to occupy the small black sofa as well. The breakfast was adequate. We didn’t have a chance to use them but there were 2 lounges providing complimentary coffee and snacks all day long. All of the staff we met were helpful, kind & friendly. It was not only good value for money, but also the location was unbeatable - close to the city centre and walking distance to main bus terminal. We’ve stayed totally at 8 different 4-5* hotels for our entire trip in Europe, this hotel was the best unexpectedly. We were very happy with our decisions.

We originally booked this hotel in November 2020, on the strength of reviews that were probably mostly written pre-pandemic, and eventually got to stay there in May 2022. Whilst this is still a reasonable place to choose, it seems the intervening period has taken its toll on staffing levels and room maintenance (email correspondence when rescheduling our booking suggests the hotel very nearly didn't survive). Occupancy rates seemed quite high the weekend we stayed and I wish them well for the future.

The hotel is well located, within easy walking distance both of the Old Town in one direction and Tivoli Park in another. There are six rooms on each floor, 4 facing the front and open ground, the other two facing the unattractive rear of several apartment blocks but slightly bigger with a separate little room that's good for storing luggage. The decor is OK with plenty of wood effect veneer; the bathroom was a bit more elegant with a good quality walk-in shower.

Their breakfast buffet was excellent with a notably good selection of pastries and some more unusual items (including something that looked like tapioca pudding served in a glass).

Service at reception and in the breakfast area was fine but essentially there are only three client-facing staff so the reception desk is often unmanned.

There were some minor negatives: the single lift is rickety and slow; the fridge in our room (101) emitted a foul smell when opened; they no longer have enough TV remote controls for every room.

This boutique hotel surely has many advantages:

* Excellent location, next to the main streets
* Yet away from a busy street, so very quiet
* No noise from other rooms too
* Spotless rooms and communal area. Clearly recently refurbished
* Comfortable beds, very nice marble bathroom
* Air conditioning
* Very friendly staff
* Excellent breakfast buffet choice, with also the ability to order eggs (fried, scrambled)

The only drawback is the small size lift, only able to accommodate 2 or 3 people at one time.

Tip: if you come from the airport, go to the pink shuttle desk. For 12 EUR per person, a small bus shuttle will bring you directly to the hotel. Public bus is also only 4.10 EUR from the airport to the bus station, which is only 5-10 min walk from the hotel

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of months ago and overall it was a terrible experience in almost all views.

The first thing you see and smell are the trashcans in front of the entrance.
The smell is disgusting as there are people bringing the trash that live in the area around the hotel all day.

When you come inside, you have to carry your luggage over some stairs to even get to the reception where you have to wait 10 minutes so the receptionist comes back from the bar serving a group of people attending some kind of self help seminar, lead by some crazy guy yelling all over the hotel lobby.

When we finaly get to our room, the problems continue. Clearly someone has been smoking in the room and you cant even open the windows, because the room is located just above the trashcans mentioned at the start of this review.
The receptionist told us that the hotel was full, so we couldnt get another room and we had to sleep in a room reeking of cigarette smoke and got the information that maybe we can get another room the next day, but he cant guarantee that and has to talk to the manager first.

The next day after breakfast (dont drink coffee from the machine as it is basicaly tasteless brown water) we tried to find the manager to talk about changing rooms, but later found out that she was sitting next to us in the dining room, drinking some kind of alcohol with her friend and both being really loud and rude at 9 in the morning. We went out to get a walk and find some normal coffee and when we came back, the hotel manager told us it is too late to change the rooms (she didnt want to explain why it is too late, maybe she was just a little drunk from the "breakfast"...).

If we didnt already paid online when booking the hotel (200e per night), I would walk out at the moment after talking to the manager as she is clearly out of her depth and to be honest I feel sorry for the young staff working with such an obnoxious person, being their boss.

Stay away from this hotel, as you can get far better accommodation and value for at least the same price.

Great location so close to everything but very quiet especially at night, rooms are large, modern, cool (good ac) and very clean - beds are very comfortable - as a family of 3 the 3rd bed (sofa bad) was as good as a single bed both in size and comfort. The breakfast was great too especially for children and the staff were so helpful. Would definitely stay again. We had an unexpected very late arrival and check in was perfect.

I visited Ljubljana for the first time earlier this year, and loved it and I made the right decision to stay at this hotel. The location is great, between the train & bus station and old town (5-10 mins walk). What I love the most is definitely the room itself. it’s spacious, new, and well equipped. They even give you a phone with a simcard in case you need it (which is great). The staff were great and polite. Breakfast was great for you to start the day. I strongly recommend this hotel if you visit Ljubljana.

There’s no shared riding (Uber or similar) in Slovenia so I arranged with the hotel for airport transfer (50 euros). After I learned there are buses to/from airport to the bus station downtown (7 min walk from hotel) for 3.70 euros!
Check in was easy. Hotel is centrally located in a quiet area. Room was actually a small apartment with a kitchenette that included a fridge. Small bathroom, no shampoo or conditioner, just a bottle of soap that did triple duty. Towels were very thin and rough. Good size bedroom with safe and slippers available. Bed was comfortable and windows opened. TV had many foreign channels. Very quiet. Breakfast was better than I expected, they cook eggs to order. Coffee and cookies available all day in dining area for free. Worth it for the price, cleanliness and location.

We stayed here last February (right after attending the Venice Carnival) to explore Slovenia. I’m so glad I picked this hotel. Location is walking distance to old town. The room we had is good size with kitchen, refrigerator, stove, small dining area, and plenty of space for storage/hanging. They have washing machine and dryer in the basement to do laundry for free. Breakfast is good, and on our last day, they packed us food as we had to early at 6am to catch a flight. Public bus to the airport is about 10-15 min walk for only €8 per person.
Since we had to leave early, it was better for us to take a taxi. The receptionist reserved a taxi for us the day before. Front desk and dining staff are pleasant and welcoming.

I have stayed here for two nights in January with my daughter and my wife. Location is central, rooms are really spacious, everything is clean and calm. Breakfast has plenty of options to choose from and it is all nicely decorated and delicious. Staff is friendly and attentive. You can even take for free the tea or coffee anytime you wish during the day and the coffee is one of the best I have tasted in the hotels and I really travel a lot. This hotel is really amazing and I defintely recommend! :)

We stayed here in May. Loved it. Room was spacious & comfy. Breakfast was good and they will make eggs your way - no charge. That’s an addition to the breakfast offering that’s empathy. Great location to we’re doing anything in the city center. Always felt very safe. Lots of good restaurants nearby too.

Hi, actually just 50 meters far from the hotel there is a public garage where you can park your car. It has 4 levels, I've been there more than 10 times and had never found lack of parking spots in the garage. If you somehow miss it, still there is 2 more public garages around.
