Firstly easy to get from airport, terminal 1 , train (£1), underground, 200metres from Astoria underground (a three day transport pass £12), then you have to use your initiative... recommend an external photo off website onto your mobile phone and you will spot it easily, once inside look for the lift and names.. it is there . Unusual style but...

Incredibly hard to find. We happened to come into the building the hotel is in from the side of the street that didn't have a sign, and we wandered around with our suitcases until somebody figured out what we were looking for and pointed us to the elevator. The hotel is tucked inside what seems to be an apartment building...

I read all the reviews for this hotel and am surprised that there are any negative ones. Even finding the hotel was an adventure. There is parking nearby whilst you locate it and you then get a true insight to Budapest. It is like an old spy movie with dreary staircases and you expect to see a man in a...

The other reviews understates how hard it is to find this hotel. My GPS got me to 3B and 3C, which is 200 meters from 3A on the other side of the road - and when you find 3A you still have to go through a maze with small gold signs as your lead until you finally reach the hotel....

I don't have much to add to the previous reviews--all of the praise by TripAdvisor members was right on the money. Speaking of money, what a bargain! It's located by the beautiful, yet sad, Dohany Street Synagogue and near to the Metro and the national museum. I wouldn't think of staying anywhere else when I next visit this fantastic city.

My sister and I stayed for three nights at Karoly Central in Budapest. As other reviewers have said, it's quite hard to find, and the outside is a bit offputting, but inside it's fantastic. The staff, especially Dorka and the housemaid, were fantastic. They couldn't do enough to help us. The room was spotless with a great bathroom and shower,...

I can't even begin to tell you how nice the staff is. This place is a very quaint place right in the heart of the city center. It is run by young and energetic women who provide free room service, clean your room, and welcome you with a smile everytime you come and go. I felt like royalty here and...

We loved the Budapest Karoly Central. The hotel itself was adorable and impeccably clean, with ample size rooms and a complimentary bottle of wine to greet us. The staff was so friendly and so accommodating. The location also was even better than we imagined, located centrally in Pest a half-block from the Dohany Synagogue. We were able to walk everywhere...

I booked this hotel because of its high tripadvisor ratings and overall was not disappointed. The hotel has a character - it is located in one of those huge Budapest block of flats right across the street from the Dohany synagogue (very central). The room was nicely furnished and clean, bathroom 4* hotel standard and we received a complimentary bottle...

Just got back from this hotel after a 4 night stay. If not for the shuttle driver (from the airport) we would certainly not have found it. The directions could be a little more detailed. The entrance is found between some shops. On a wall to your right is displayed numerous plaques for shops and offices, the Karoly is almost...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
