In June, we stayed at the Danube guest house and had a very wonderful experience. Bob was a very warm and thoughtful host. Upon arrival he provided a good map with recommendations for sites to visit as well as restaurants. He was always available to answer questions and the rooms were impeccable. My tip would be to ask for a...

Great location in Budapest for seeing everything! It is literally around the corner from the Great Synagogue, in the vibrant Jewish District. It is super easy access to subway, train station (Kelati) & buses. It is a short 10 minute walk to city center & Danube River. There are only 5 rooms and if you are lucky enough to get...

Bob was our host while Zoltan was out and he was wonderful. I can't recommend this place enough. The location is perfect, we were able to walk everywhere (even made the trek to the Buda side) from here. The room and bathroom were very clean as well. Bob gave us great tips on where to eat and visit. I loved...

The Danube Guest House couldn't be better positioned. It's within easy walking distance of many important sites and affords easy access to public transport that enables visitors to reach all the rest. A wide range of restaurants and night spots are minutes from the front door. The host, a long term resident American, will happily provide a wealth of useful...

Had a wonderful week staying here with my lovely friend. What friendly, welcoming, hospitable and helpful hosts. They gave us lots of tips on places to eat, visit, etc. and booked tickets for us to thermal baths. The accommodation was stylish, clean and very comfortable. Plenty of space for hanging and storing clothes. Guide books available. Location is great, right...

Thank you for the wonderful review. I would just like to say that with the newly installed roll up shutters, well insulated windows and heavy drapes, there would have been no issue with noise if you had not chosen to sleep with them all open :)

We stayed for 2 nights for a short weekend break to explore Budapest and the guest house was perfect for our needs and budget. Our hosts were extremely helpful and sweet. The rooms were spotlessly clean and well equpped, even with books and recent magazines, hairdryer, drinking water- and it was lovely and warm, which was great after walking around...

We stayed here for two nights in December after a semester abroad before going back home. As female students, we wanted to stay someplace safe and clean with reasonable pricing. We were so impressed with Guest House Danube. The owners were so incredibly kind and helpful - they had tickets to attractions and wonderful advice where to eat. The free...

The Danube Hotel is such an amazing place, where we had a great time!!! Clean and comfortable and also in a great location close to bars and restaurants in the Jewish quarter, it's right next to Great Synagogue. This small guesthouse is located in the Jewish quarter a short walk from trams, buses and metro stations in Astoria and Deak ter. The building is old and has a lot of character but the rooms are modern and spotlessly clean. We arrived very late (thank you Ryanair) for which there was an extra charge, which we were not informed...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
