Callas House has a prime downtown location right next to the Hungarian State Opera House on Andrassy Avenue which is Budapest’s finest thoroughfare and center of luxury boutiques, stylish cafes, and restaurants. It was built in 1881 and is classified as a historic architectural monument. On the ground floor, Callas Cafe & Restaurant was brought back to life in 2006 through the interior designs of the world-famous architect, the late David Collins. For the 10th anniversary of its rebirth, the owners have created 25 luxury hotel rooms on the top two floors of the building. The interior design of these was once more executed by the London-based David Collins Studio, the award-winning and market-leading interior architecture practice that has brought to fruition creative and inspirational hospitality, residential and retail projects worldwide. The comfortable, tasteful and classy rooms have been carefully custom designed with natural materials and a touch of Hungarian flair. Its agelessly elegant style combines the architectural and historical glories of the building with the bravura of the designers. Callas House opened its doors in 2016, it is multifaceted and inspiring, which we are very proud of. Our dream to perfection, the unique and intimate guest rooms give a true and unusual experience to all of our guests visiting us. Come and indulge in a real art deco style palace in Budapest.

The Callas House may be the best hotel experience I have ever had. It is walking distance to everything. We were greeted by Marcell, who went above and beyond our whole trip. When we got to the airport and realized we had left something important in the room, he immediately found it and took extra care sending it back to us. You would be missing out if you didn't ask him for recommendations around the city.

We liked the security of the hotel. We were given a key fob that not let us into the building, but then also into the floor of our room. Not that we didn't feel safe. The area around the hotel is beautiful. In fact, all of Budapest is beautiful!

Now, let's talk the room. The pictures on the site are nice, but don't do it justice. I think it is a MUST to book a room with a balcony! The hotel is next door to the opera house, and from the balcony I was looking directly at exquisite statues of great composers. Turn 180° and you can see the dome of the Basilica. We were there at Christmas time and the city was beautifully lit! There were two adults a teen and a tween in our party. We booked the two room option. I highly suggest this room for families! It was just like an apartment. Two separate rooms on either side of the living room. High ceilings with sky lights and luxurious bathrooms! The space was very comfortable and relaxing after a day of walking (or scooting on Lime scooters, so fun!) the city.

Breakfast was included at the Cafe, and I was pleasantly surprised to see it was an actual meal. Eggs, sausage, bacon, meats, cheeses, fruit, pastries, etc. They made sure you did not leave hungry for the day. We went back for dinner our last night there and I highly recommend a meal there. Our food was delicious and there was a lovely quartet playing in the background.

Don't stick with a chain hotel. Book the Callas House and stay in beautiful luxury where you are treated like royalty!

My boyfriend booked us a room in this hotel for my birthday weekend at the beginning of January 2023. We stayed two nights and had breakfast included.
The hotel is very easy to locate and within walking distance of many amazing sights in the centre.
The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful.
Our room was on the top floor with two skylights and a bed so big it took up nearly the entire bedroom. I would say, for information, that the mattress was very, very firm and the duvet was quite thin, though the heating system in the room was very effective, so it wasn't a problem. The room was beautiful and really well designed.
The bathroom was absolutely stunning. I really noticed how clean everything was - the tiles and grout were so clean and white, the tiles on the floor were clean and free of dirt or build-up, and the mirrors, shower doors, and taps were all gleaming! The shower was incredibly powerful and lovely and hot.
The breakfast was in the Callas Restaurant, so that involved going outside into the street and then back into a different door, but it was lovely and quiet and had a great selection of hot and cold food, including an omelette bar. The staff there were fantastic, and brought us things to our table when we asked if they had more of something. The only negative thing I could say is that there was no soap or hand towels in the ladies' toilet in the restaurant.
After checking out we were able to store our luggage safely and securely in a locked room there until we were able to collect it before leaving the city.

In summary, I was so happy and impressed with this hotel that I would definitely stay here again if I return to Budapest in the future. It made my birthday feel special, and made a short weekend break into a proper, luxurious holiday! Thank you, Callas House!

The Callas House hotel is a hotel that I will stay at again when we return to Budapest. After entering the huge front door we did wonder for a few seconds what we had let ourselves in for but our fears were soon taken away once we reached the reception area and checked in. Check in was very smooth and we were welcomed with gusto and friendliness nothing was too much trouble and lots of suggestions were made of places to visit etc during our stay. Once we got to our room it was everything we were expecting large, tidy and clean and spectacular views of the Opera House next door. TV, Radio, Coffee Machine were all most welcome in the room and the bathroom was very clean with a shower and a bath.
The positioning of the hotel is ideal a street full of designer shops and within 7-8 minute walk you are on one of the main squares of Budapest and within about a 15-20 minute walk you are on the river bank of The Danube. Breakfast at the hotel was in the Callas Restaurant next door and was very well presented with a continental style, cooked style, toast, yoghurts and cereal and pastries in abundance. Help yourself to how ever much you wanted and there was no rush to breakfast you could of sat there from 7-1o if you wanted to. The Callas House has a metro station right outside so it is easy to get around Budapest but it is so central it is just as easy to walk and take in the sights and sounds. The staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much for them. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and will not bother looking for anywhere else when I return to Budapest this hotel will be instantly booked.

We chose this hotel after much research on trip advisor. The location was perfect and the decor was as in the pictures. We were able to check in at 11 which was great and meant we could freshen up and leave our luggage. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and the bed large and comfortable. If I had to make any suggestions it would be for the bathroom to have nicer bath towels as the ones there were quite small and thin. Other than that the room suited our needs for our 3 night stay.
I regularly leave positive reviews as I use the site a lot and don’t like leaving negative comments however the breakfast wasn’t as great as it could have been. There was a fairly good choice but the food was either overcooked, cold or dry. This was a disappointment as the restaurant looks lovely when you first enter and the lady who works there was friendly.

Spent 2 nights for my boyfriend's birthday. We absolutely fell in love with this historical building from the 19th century.
Excellent 1st impression by Marcel who was very welcoming, friendly and informative.
We booked an attic room which in our opinion was decorated to perfection. The room had a nice terrace and a fantastic bathroom that further complimented its style. Everything was super clean and bed was also comfortable. The room was equipped with a Marshall Bluetooth speaker which we thought was so cool.
A continental Breakfast was offered at Callas cafe downstairs, which to our relief had some vegan options.
Location of the hotel is also very convenient.
We definitely recommend this Hotel & for sure we'll consider coming back!!

We had a fabulous time staying in this hotel. The room was a good size and the bed was enormous. Tea and coffee available in the room plus mini bar and snacks (extra cost) also a coffee machine. The bathroom was great with a really good shower, decor fitting for the style of the building. We also had a small but adequate balcony which was reached by a small flight of stairs from the bedroom. Toiletries and hairdryer supplied as well as a radio and TV, plenty of sockets and large wardrobe, although we could have done with a few more hangers. This was a birthday trip and we had champagne, flowers and balloons waiting for us in our room, thank you Callas House. The staff were very friendly and helpful, my daughter came out to surprise me for my birthday and was staying at a guest house next door, I asked the staff if it would be ok for her to join us for breakfast and they said it was a pleasure to have her join us. The location was fantastic, next door to the beautiful Hungarian opera house. Metro right outside and within easy walking to most sights and great restaurants. Breakfast was served in the Callas bistro, typical European breakfast, hot and cold choices available, very slow coffee/ tea machine, think that needs updating. Would recommend

This is not so much a hotel as it is a historic apartment building, and our top floor room was a highlight of our trip! When we first got dropped off, the front door was hard to find. It's an older building, but it is right on the main street of Budapest (that connects the Ferris Wheel on one end to Hero's Walk and the Schnezi baths at the other end). It is right next door to the Opera House. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and chose the Premiere Suite With Terrace. All I can say is, WOW!!!! The room was huge, with 2 balconies, a soaker tub, living room, and we were on the end and had the most incredible rooftop terrace with views of the city and the Opera House. We had nightcaps up there each night enjoying the milder March weather and the view! Fruszina at the front desk was very helpful in arranging dinner reservations and other attraction mapping. Breakfast is included next door in their cafe and they would make you a variety of eggs, along with meats, cheeses, cereal, yogurt, and coffee/juice. The location was just fantastic, and the room with that terrace and the views of the city is something we will never forget. We would absolutely stay here again.

Callas House is a small but very comfortable hotel in a building next the the Opera House. It is beautifully furnished and well designed and in a very convenient location near the subway stop, and their is a wonderful restaurant on the street level for breakfast, which was also excellent and included in the price. Zoltan and the other team members are exceptionally nice, friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable, the bathroom very modern but elegant, clean and tasteful and the whole stay was as good as I would have hoped. There are 2 cute dog assistants who help the management team in the office and I particularly bonded with Archie - a very sweet boy. I highly recommend Callas House and hope to stay there again next time I come to in Budapest.

This wonderful hotel was quite the find. the current owner purchased the property several years ago and has renovated 2 floors to be in keeping with the original look and feel of the building. Stunning. The rooms and bathrooms are gorgeous with a huge soaking tub , the best sheets ever and nice touches such as water, bluetooth radio. The hotel staff was warm and greeting us with gusto! They have 2 dogs who were equally charming. Best yet is the breakfast included which is on the main street and feels like you have arrived Home. We highly recommend this gem- location can't be beat , next to the Opera house. Thank you for a memorable stay!

After upgrading to a larger room, the two of us were given a suite with two double beds and two bathrooms, perhaps that’s why it was so expensive.
The room was nice with good space but it was DIRTY. I wasn’t sure whether the bed had been cleaned and there were HAIRS IN THE BATH. However, you get what you pay for.
The balcony was nice.
For the location, the place is good. However in my opinion over priced due to the quality of breakfast and room.
Service was very friendly.
