My friend and I had a great time at The Loft! It's small enough where you can meet new friends, hang out or cook meals. Location was perfect for walking to our destinations. Sheldon and Chris were always available to give us recommendations and were so friendly! We would definitely stay again!

Our trip to Budapest would not have been this memorable, if we hadn't stayed at this beautiful hostel. Really enjoyed my stay at this hostel. It has a nice homely feel to it. The location is great and close to everything. The hostel was clean and everyone was super friendly. Both Chris and Sheldon were amazing and very helpful!

Can't recommend this place enough. I've stayed in my fair share of hostels and this has to be among the very best. Staff are super friendly, helpful, and socialize with guests, and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming - I met so many great people and this made my experience in Budapest that much better. If you're coming to... More

One of the best hostels in Europe. From the moment you enter they make you feel welcome and give you a lot of information about the hostel and the city. Good place to meet and socialize with other travelers. We stayed in a private double which was actually an apartment with private bathroom and kitchen. Definitely recommend this place

Could not praise this hostel enough! The staff here are incredible, and the type of people that end up here are open and friendly. The place is so cosy and very relaxed, probably the best hostel I've ever been to in Europe! Free wifi that works everywhere as well and feels like a travellers haven.

The hostel is quaint and inviting. The staff are so helpful. The information at check in was so valuable. The rooms are pretty spacious with plugs and reading lights. Lots of movies to watch if it's rainy or you just want to stay in. The laundry service is awesome. It is walking distance to everything you'll want to see. Don't... More

Excellent location and good value for money. The hostel was small but never felt cramped and had a great communal area to relax in. The (very friendly) staff pointed information out on the map and offered us useful advice e.g. good restaurants which was particularly helpful to me as a vegetarian. We felt very welcome there and would definitely recommend.

This hostel was located on the top floor of a very historical building. The two owners and the staff members were friendly and very helpful with maps and directions. The Loft Hostel has a lot of character with many homemade decorations (and the lockers were made of wood!) I stayed in a 4-person and it was very comfortable. Although there... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hi backpacker! We are here to welcome you to Budapest and also to invite you to join our community at The Loft--a community that shares with each other, explores together and stays up into the wee hours because there is still more beer in the refrigerator and the conversation is too good to end. One that celebrates the thrill of a new city, new food and new people, but also understands the need for long, glorious, uninterrupted sleep (having spent too many nights in airports to save a euro), never ending hot water and the rejuvenating qualities of a perfect, giant couch. So if you are tired--you sleep. If you are hungry--you eat. And whenever you are ready to go outside and see Budapest, we will not drag you by the wrist to the obvious places, but we will stand beside you and help to navigate the twisting roads, quirky museums, cheap cafes and uniquely-Budapest bars that collectively are the pulse of the city. We are a small space at Loft, but it suits us and our travelers perfectly. We are simply ourselves here, but the music is always on, the kettle is always on, we are happy and most of all? We really hope you will join us. The Staff, The Loft. Our hostel workers are lovers of fine cuisine, and other such things. ... more   less
