the fish was very fresh and tasty. I had a "blini" with sour cream and slices of fresh sushi style salmon with a large side of hot quinoa and spinach - excellent. my husband's fish and chips were tasty and fun. the environment was very friendly and upbeat.

This hostel is really sociable and the staff are really lovely, speak great English and offer really good advice on what to do. The rooms are spacious and as well as clean. Big fish is also in a great location (right next to a tram line that will take you down to the river) and is only a short walk...

With about six months of travel (and a LOT of hostels) under my belt in 2016 I can say that no hostel has surpassed Big Fish. Lovely dormitories with high ceilings and lots of space (individual reading lights and plug sockets). Bathrooms are immaculately clean and spacious with powerful, warm showers. In short, all the essentials of a pleasant hostel...

This hostel is the best hostel we've ever been to! It is cozy and nice, the dorm we slept in was very big and everyone had an individual bed. It is a very clean and neat hostel and there is no way to ever feel uncomfortable. The staff is incredibly friendly and it's easy to socialise with the people who...

The moment you step into Big Fish you are greeted with a smile. An even bigger smile when you take your shoes off at the entrance just like the sign asks you to do. Check in is quick, you get a key for the hostel and a padlock if you need one for the lockers (wood) in your room. The...

The hostel is really nice, it is a small hostel with 4 bathrooms and 4 dormitory rooms. The rooms are spacious and they have a mix of bunkbeds and individuals beds. The bathrooms are spot clean and the water pressure is amazing. It doesn't have a luggage room so if you want to leave your luggage be mindful that it...

I stayed in the Big Fish for 3 nights with a friend and it was amazing: it was the cleanest hostel I have seen, the staff was so kind, the kitchen was fully equipped, baths were modern and clean, and the bedroom was very comfortable. It was also very calm (surely because I went there in February), and cozy. Being...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

“I'd stay in one of the eight bed dorms since they aren't cramped at all, and you will save a bit of cash. The best shower is down the hallway opposite the kitchen. It is larger with more room to maneuver which is helpful if you're over six feet tall like me.”

“I would absolutely recommend this hostel. We've arrive by bike a budapest with bikes and took a double room that was really big (we did'nt know that). Big enough to put our two bikes inside and the two boxes to pack them back to our country, and the staff offered the option to do that. Even though if you doesn't take private room, there is safe place to lock the bikes inside the building without any problem. We have lock them there finally. Regards”
