We had a lovely stay in one of the refurbished rooms. Yes - there was some work going on around the hotel - presumably work on upgrading other rooms - but it did not disturb us, other than seeing the occasional decorator wandering around. The staff were also very good and very helpful - particularly Zsolt - who I had...

Stayed at the Mercure City Centre with friends from 17th - 20th March. The hotel is under going a renovation but we were put on the 6th floor which had already been done and the rooms are lovely. The staff are very helpful after our first night we asked if we could move rooms as we were near the lift...

This is a difficult one to review . As noted by previous reviewers the hotel is undergoing renovation so alongside the positives there are some negatives. The good points :location was excellent , on the pedestrian Váci utca , one of Budapest's most prestigious streets. Close to Ferenciek Tere metro station and not far to the Danube (the Elisabeth bridge...

Fantastic location for sight seeing and right in the heart of shops and restaurants. The room was clean and bright. We were however woken every morning by maintenance work which we had notification of the day before but did become annoying. The bed was lovely and big but too hard, it was like sleeping on a board and affected our...

The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment (not stated on website) & we were awoken every morning from 8am with constant banging and drilling. There was no offer of an upgraded room just said there was nothing they could do.

What a beautiful hotel, stayed here for 3 nights on check-in we got upgraded to one of the new updated rooms which was just beautiful! Super king bed, plasma TV on wall, brilliant shower, mini bar, hair dryer, and a lovely feature wall of an tourist attraction in the City. The only thing I would say is that the bathroom...

On arrival we were allocated a room on the second floor which was tiny and dirty. The walls were scuffed and the carpet was stained with what looked like several bleached footsteps but it was the condition of the mattress that made me request another room. The side had twisted around onto the top of the mattress which resulted in...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
