I'll make this short. Booked in during the eve of new year so it wasn't that cheap. But I am pretty sure prices will be very affordable during the other time. Entrance is hard to locate. Staffs, the staffs are truly sincere and you know they have been at it for many years. When I arrived, there were with several...

The reason we chose City Hotel Matyas as our hotel for our stay in Budapest was because the hotel has cheap prices and the location is top notch. After reading the reviews here on TripAdvisor, I wasn't sure what to expect, as some of the reviews are negative. Happily I can say, I was positively surprised! The hotel is easy...

The Hotel Matyas seems trying to find an economical solution. The building was occupied by various uses and the approach from the reception to the room was complicated. As the room was faced to the courtyard, it was quiet. It was slightly inconvenient that there was no shampoo at the shower space. Except these points, as the room was clean,...

The location is good and was perfect for visiting the Christmas markets which was the main purpose of our trip. The hotel is close to amenities such as public transport and restaurants etc. However, our room was very noisy so we asked to move to a quieter one but this was also a noisy room and one morning it sounded...

I stayed here for 2 nights and couldn't really find any fault at all! I booked 2 rooms, which I requested to be together. The hotel honoured this for me without hesitation. I booked this hotel for the location which certainly didn't disappoint! It was right next to Elizabeth bridge and only about a 5-10 min to the nearest metro...

Just returned from a short stay in Budapest visiting the Christmas markets . We booked this hotel due to its location. I was a little concerned after reading some of the reviews , which were not good ,but I had no need to worry. What a wonderful experience. The staff were great. The rooms were clean and tidy (no kettle...

A strange layout but once you figure it out it's grand. Location is brilliant and i found the staff very helpful and reasonably friendly. Rooms are fairly small and basic but do the job, and the power shower is fantastic. One negative is lack of a bar/lounge area but there are scores of bars and cafes etc within walking distance.

Basic, clean rooms, basically centric hotel. Staff is helpfull, could be more, but not the worst. Amazing views, if you are lucky and Get a room facing the Danube. Breakfast basic, restaurant serves tipical hungarian plates, and live music.

If someone wish to experience, how it was to be a tourist before 1989 (I was), Mátyás is the right place. I have experience with several three star hotels in Budapest (Universities mostly don't allow higher class) but this was really the top. OK, the hotel notes on the website that you may register after three o'clock in the afternoon...

Dear Wilken E, Thank you for taking the time to share your review of your stay on Tripadvisor. In 2016 we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the hotel opening, it started to operate in 1996 as a pension and due to extension currently has 3* hotel classification. The 3pm check in and 11am check out times are commonly used in...

Well positioned. Near Danube River and main pedestrian mall full of shops and restaurants. Room was clean and well serviced. However it was all downhill from there. Converted Apartment buildings very run down and not well maintained. Don't know what you are going to get when you have to interact with reception. Depends on who is on duty and their...

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighbourhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
