Lovely family-friendly hotel, close to new metro station, with high-class service and (mostly) free spa. The hotel has air of 18th century, submerged deep inside its stones. The rooms are satisfactory as well as the rest of the hotel. Once top class hotel, now nice and sweet old class.

Another delightful stay at my Favourite Hotel. What's not to love about this magnificent old world hotel. Perfectly located beside Freedom Bridge, Great Market Hall, Buda Castle, The Metro , Trams, Cafes , Allee Shopping Centre , Gellert Baths etc etc. Do spend a little extra to get a river view. The friendly and professional staff. From the moment you...

Our stay was wunderful, wonderful service of the people of the hotel. At breakfast we had a lot of choice of hot and cold food. Only the rooms of the Hotel needs to be modernized, and the Gellert Baths we're in our opinion too crowded.

Great staff, helpful and friendly service and excellent location, would definitely return to explore Budapest further and stay at The Gellert. The spa was magnificent and the views of the Danube were top.

Wonderful location with comfortable bedding and spacious rooms. Found that smoke smell lingered in the bathroom but exceptional apart from that! The wonderful thermal pools were particularly magical outside when it snowed. Would definitely stay again.

Since I only had one evening to spend in Budapest, I choose Gellert as the place to stay. The wellness is a welcome treat after a bussy week! Great location at the banks of the river, perfect for a late evening walk, crossing the bridge.

Wonderful hotel with sort of faded grandeur giving it a unique feel. Traditional benefit of having access to outdoors and indoors thermal baths, saunas and swimming pool etc. Worth paying extra for room with river view

We loved it - great location, huge room (we had gone for the deluxe option)with a great view, breakfast included and the attached spa. The opulence of a classic Grand Hotel as refitted in Soviet Modern style about 50 years ago. So if you really want all the trendy Boutique Hotel details you'll be disappointed - but its still very...

Feeling as being in the last century.I like the no nonsense accomodation.Only point of critism is that at both my stays it was hard to find a table at breakfast.Staff is friendly and helpfull. Please do not change the interior, only maintain it.

Staying in Gellert Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Gellert Hill
If you want to treat your camera to some amazing scenery, Gellért Hill is a must on your itinerary. A funicular journey from the Chain Bridge along the hillsides provides a fast connection between Buda and Pest, hoisting visitors to panoramic vistas. Once on top of the hill, you’ll find the Citadel dominate the landscape with its imposing 19th century construction, a site that’s hard to keep your eyes on without being distracted by the phenomenal view over the Danube and the eight bridges crossing. Once on Gellért Hill however, one mustn’t miss the famous Gellért Baths. Budapest is renown for its thermal waters and its baths, and the Gellért Baths are housed in an impressive art nouveau structure. Its interior design, with its many mosaics, recalls the preceding relationships the city has had with healing springs and saunas, traditionally used within this neighborhood since the Ottoman Empire.
