We loved the hotel. Nice people, nice service, clean and great Spa! There is a swimming pool, sauna & jacuzzi. The hotel is near the Jewish quarter, close to public transportation and has a lot of good restaurants and bars nearby.

We just returned from Budapest to visit our daughter who was studying abroad and wanted to stay close to her apartment. We really wanted to stay closer to the river, however, this location turned out to be so convenient. We walked from here to the Terror Museum, the Opera House, the Szechenyi Baths and Heroes Square. We took trams, buses...

Really nice hotel : spa was excellent - staff very helpful / florist had done a great job. Approx 15 mins walk from the main square but only 5 mins from some nice and good restaurants. We chose not to eat in the restaurants as we prefer local cuisine ... but they looked very nice .

Great location, lovely hotel. Beautiful architecture and decor. Didn't have food I the hotel but the bar at the back of reception was really nice for drinks. In our room we didn't have any complimentary water but some of the others in our party didn't. Not a huge issue , we just drank the tap water. The rooms are large...

I booked this hotel as a birthday present for my fiancée. It definitely has the wow factor when you first walk in. The hotel is extremely clean and the service was second to none. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Free use of the Royal Spa was also a welcome bonus. As it was Easter, they...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for two nights as a part of the pre-cruise deal with the Vikings river cruise and we really enjoyed our stay here. Breakfast buffet was simply outstanding with an excellent service. The front lobby/reception area is truly impressive as well. The best thing about this hotel, however, was the swimming pool and...

We stayed at the Corinthia Hotel Budapest recently after Easter and it was wonderful. This hotel is grand and historic. Our room was very nice and the staff very accommodating. The hotel is close enough to get to major sites. There is a near hop on hop off stop which is also close to the Oktogon metro stop. We ate...

In short, the glowing reviews are very well deserved. Unless picture postcard views of the Danube etc. are important to you, this hotel should be at or very near the top of your shortlist. It's a beautiful, luxurious and well-maintained building; the hotel's own photographs accurately depict what you can expect. Staff are genuinely warm and helpful, and seem to...

I had booked the Corinthia for four nights for my boyfriend's birthday treat. I thought the hotel was fantastic. It's in a great location and is a beautiful building that is immaculately kept and looked after. I arranged for a driver to collect us at the airport and bring us to the hotel. He was very helpful and the journey...

After an amazing weekend at Londons Corinthia October last year we I decided to try another Corinthia hotel for our anniversary. We chose to stay in an executive room so had access to the executive lounge which is nice. Our room wasn't as good as London but was OK, it overlooked the restaurant which seemed lovely but not so when...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighbourhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
First opened in 1896 as the Grand Hotel Royal; a hub for the elite of nineteenth century society, and painstakingly restored to its original glory some hundred years later, the Corinthia Budapest – located in the heart of the city - brings together classic hotel opulence with the finest five-star luxury of modern times. While the gracious frontage, marble floors, sweeping staircase and breathtaking, six-story Atrium preserved from the original building offer glorious hints of a bygone age, the levels of comfort and convenience are all reassuringly up to date.A particular feature is the hotel’s original Royal Spa centre, with 15-metre pool, now extensively refurbished by the current owners to reflect the very best in 21st-century spa luxury while retaining the grandeur of the past. Without doubt the finest hotel in Budapest. Built in classic French Renaissance style, the Grand Royal became a beacon of luxury in the days of Emperor Franz Joseph 1. Designed as a centrepiece of Hungary’s celebrations to mark its first thousand years, the hotel’s grand-style architecture and unrivaled guest facilities were seen as state-of the art for the times. Much of the building was destroyed in the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and despite re-opening in more modest form in the 1960’s, the Grand Royal remained a shadow of its former self until the 1990’s; when new owners Corinthia Hotels gave the green light for an extensive restoration project that would retain the best of the old, while sensitively adding the new. Once restored to its original splendour, the newly named Corinthia Hotel Budapest re-opened its doors, as a five-star luxury property, in 2003. ... more   less
