This is probably the worst hotel I have ever been to. The room is tiny and very noisy, everything is very old and in a state of disrepair. Plug sockets are hanging off the wall, there is no toilet paper holder or even a shelf in the bathroom; no hot water, WiFi isn’t working, toilet doesn’t flash properly., bath towels are tiny and so old - like thin sand paper! Nothing works here. Just awful.

❌ The area is dangerous and not safe. ❌ The hotel rooms full of mold and stains. ❌ Very far from everything and isolated. ❌ The manager Ildiko ignored us although we showed her the mold and mildew on the walls.

This hotel could be very nice with some maintenance and updates. The staff is pleasant and attempts to be helpful. Our room was just ok. Refrigerator in room was very noisy, remote control for tv needed new batteries, shower head in the nicely remodeled bath was loose and water was spraying everywhere until I could get it under control. The window blew open in the middle of the night and after that we couldn’t get it to stay closed. We finally propped it closed by putting our suitcase on the ledge. There is supposed to be WiFi in the entire hotel but we had none on the third floor, none in the restaurant. We had to sit in the lobby to get good WiFi. We kept being told they were checking into it but three days into the stay was unchanged. The free breakfast was ok, serving scrambled and hard boiled eggs, fruit, breads, cheese, cereal, and a few other hot items. The restaurant is spacious and nice. And you can also eat outside. You can buy dinner, but the menu is limited, the portions were a decent size. Some waiters do not speak English which was a problem for us. Also, at breakfast today, yesterday’s rice was still on the server which today held eggs. The hotel is a bit far from center city Budapest but public transportation is excellent. It is free to senior citizens which we weren’t told until the last day of our stay.

I have spent 2 nights in hotel. The staff was very helpfull. It was my first visit to Budapest, so I was surprisend and very pleased when the hotel manager was giving me detailed guideliens and very good hints what to visit in town. The room was clean and the breakfast was fine. So, it was a great service for the money that I paid. One day I will come back...

We booked into this older but well kept hotel, after returning from Croatia, finding not much available within the central city. The hotel staff was curtious, and the size and ambiance of the room was old world. Large dog and and chairs augmented a large room. Everything worked, and transportation into the city was convenient but it did take about 40 minutes via the #80 bus. The tie breaker was the price: very below market, luckily, because we spent more then we should have on Zagreb.sorry don't have a photo itself

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the past 10 years whilst undergoing dental treatment at a clinic nearby. I have always found it ok, basic but enough for my needs. Alas I can no longer say that. I spent 4 nights there recently, the room was very grubby, the bathroom was even worse. The cold tap did not work, the shower curtain was black and mouldy and the toilet smelt as though it needed a good clean with bleach. The tap was fixed when reported to the reception, but it should never have been left in the state it was. The wardrobe door was rotten at the bottom and came off its runners several times! Generally the staff were quite nice but one or two were very grumpy. Unfortunately I will no longer be staying at this hotel for any future visits and would not recommend it to anyone else.

I booked 4 nights at this hotel (my original booking was for 3 nights, but, on reconsidering my itinerary, I decided to book an additional night). Both bookings were, however, completed more than two months before I was due to stay at the hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, I was informed that due to a ‘technical problem’, my room for the 3-night stay was unavailable, but a reservation had been made in my name at another hotel. My additional (i.e. 1-night) reservation would still be honoured. The gentleman on the desk was courteous and apologetic, so, despite my disappointment, I decided not to complain. My main complaint now is that the room in the hotel to which I was sent was dusty, musty-smelling and generally grimy (by which I mean, hairs on the pillow, bathroom floor and especially on the rug; and cobwebs in various places around the room. On one of the days, no housekeeping was provided. The free wifi (which was one of the reasons I chose the Amadeus) was too weak to reach my room, so I had to go into the corridor, where the signal was much stronger. Only a trickle of water emerged from the hot water tap. In short, the room was of a FAR INFERIOR standard to the room in which I eventually got to stay at the Amadeus, yet the price ended up being the same. If any member of staff happens to read this, please go there and check for yourself (I was in Room 305). Regarding the one night I actually got to stay in the Hotel Amadeus, I was entirely happy with the room, which was clean, spacious and well-equipped. However, the man who checked me in that night was rude and aggressive (unlike the man I had met on the first day, and also the friendly younger man who stored my bag). Indeed, had it not been for the attitude of this man, I probably wouldn’t have written this scathing review. With regard to the ‘technical problem’, this must have been a very localized problem, because I saw guests coming out of the hotel on each of the following three mornings when my tram passed by. I feel that if guests are inconvenienced in this way, they should at least be compensated by being given a room of comparable standard to the one they have booked.

If you’re looking for a place to crash and don’t care about the particulars, this place is fine. On the other hand, if you think you’re getting a good hotel that is low price because it’s off the beaten path… think again. Based on the available amenities, this could be a 3-star hotel. Based on the complete lack of upkeep, however, it is a one-star motel-type accommodation. They say the rooms are air-conditioned but actually, if you get a two-room apartment only one of the rooms (and not the bedroom) has air-conditioning. Also, while they call it an “apartment” it’s actually a “suite” in that it does not have the amenities of an apartment like a larger than mini-size fridge or a microwave or a coffee maker or a separate sink. The mini fridge barely works. Everything is broken and deeply filthy. Housekeeping does a spot vacuum daily and hands out fresh towels. But these measures do not address the deep stains in the carpet, the gray (originally white) curtains and the yellow (also originally white) shower curtain. The bathtub is permanently stained with dirt. There are brown streaks at the bottom of the mini-fridge. The couch was broken and the curtains were torn in our room. The door was off the hinge. (I saw others complain about the windows. They don’t fall off the hinge they just work in a strange way. If you turn the knob half-way you can open them left-to-right like a door. Then if you close them and turn the knob some more they switch position and now can be tilted open at the top). The street is noisy and insulation is non-existent. Our table’s leg wobbled. The “TV” is basically a computer monitor (20+ inches) and very far away from the bed. The “queen” bed is two twin beds next to each other with hard wood frames dividing the two sides. The shower temperature changes erratically to burning hot for a few seconds then back. Be very careful when showering children! And no, you cannot bathe the kids instead because the stopper does not work. By the way, when you shower, the shower curtain is useless; it goes only to the very top of the tub so it swings out as soon as the water hits it. Also, there is a holder for the hand-held shower head but it is placed too far up and the shower hose is too short for it. The breakfast is not edible. Barely identifiable things float in gray water in 2 or three bins. The “juice” appears to be some powdered instant mix with an awful aftertaste. The coldcuts and cheese are sitting out for hours unrefrigerated. There are no breakfast pastries. Most of the staff is nice though one concierge was very rude. Overall, this place is not a bargain. It is just cheap and you get less than what you pay for.

Stayed here for 2 nights as a part of Thomas cook group tour .Shame on Thomas cook that they have provided such a low standard hotel to their travellers from India .very rude male staff ( only one person at the reception), not even polite with little kids .not a good hotel atmosphere for families , felt unsafe .away from town .rooms in worst shape .AC and wifi not working at all .Tried to open the door to balcony to relieve some heat and door came bang on me, free from any hinges .It could fall on anyone .Bathroom taps really bad ..beds not at all comfortable..All in all, rooms are not worth staying for an hour but we had to stay for 2 nights .Every member of group had one or another issue , including the driver of Thomas cook bus .He was also fighting with receptionist to get his room changed .Only Thomas cook is responsible for making our stay at Budapest miserable .

I was there for 2 nights and the experience is simply unexpected! I totally felt like I was in a soviet/Hungarian hotel and their staff is more than friendly. Their manager Ildikó Bazsó gave us directions to the places we wanted to go and also made us feel very welcome. There is a bar nearby with local friendly people too. This hotel made our Budapest experience a trip I will never forget. Thank you!
